State of the Union addresses are very important. A President only gets 4 or 8 (usually) chances to stand behind a podium at the Capitol Hill to give a speech to members of Congress in attendance. And this State of the Union speech by Trump was incredible in many different ways. First, this was a pro-America speech, through and through. He spent the beginning of his speech talking about the booming economy, as well he should have. He mentioned record-low unemployment rates for blacks and Hispanics (which, interestingly enough, the Congressional Black Caucus didn’t applaud or cheer in the least. In fact, they looked down-right ticked off). He often touted the greatness of our country, with one instance coming from this quote: “To every citizen watching at home tonight – no matter where you have been, or where you came from, this is your time. If you work hard, if you believe in yourself, if you believe in America, then you can dream anything, you can be anything, and together, we can achieve anything.” This message is a message of hope for anyone who is struggling financially. A message that anything is possible. A message that the American Dream, though on life-support for many years, is quickly coming back and stronger than ever. After all, “Americans are Dreamers too.” When I heard that line, you couldn’t imagine the grin on my face. Not only is it a fantastic message of hope for Americans, it also no doubt annoyed the ever-living Hell out of Democrats. If you saw the SOTU, you saw Democrats looking annoyed, angry and, dare I say it, jealous. The country is doing fantastic and none of it is due to Democrats. African Americans and Hispanic Americans’ unemployment rates are dropping like flies and the Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucuses couldn’t be more annoyed by that. Why? Because the Democrats need a perpetually poor voting base that depends on the government. If African Americans and Hispanics are increasingly finding jobs and not having to rely so much on government assistance, that goes against everything Democrats want. They WANT and NEED people to depend on them. And if some of them realize that they’re doing better thanks to a Republican President, how likely are they then to continue voting Democrat? This speech was one of Trump’s greatest ever. And many people agree. According to CBS News: “Viewers approve of Trump’s first State of the Union address – CBS News poll”. That’s an actual HEADLINE to their article. According to their poll: “Three in four Americans who tuned in to President Trump’s State of the Union address tonight approved of the speech he gave. Just a quarter disapproved.” Now, it’s important to note that the sitting President’s political party tends to watch these addresses. It’s no surprise, really, that more Republicans watched the speech than Democrats did. But that’s not the only thing the CBS poll tracked. “Eight in 10 Americans who watched tonight felt that the president was trying to unite the country, rather than divide it. Two-thirds said the speech made them feel proud, though just a third said it made them feel safer. Fewer said the speech made them feel angry or scared.” And addressing the surplus of Republican watchers, the poll indicates that “Nine in 10 Republicans said the speech made them feel proud, while just over half of Democrats said it made them feel angry. Independents who watched the speech – nearly half of whom counted themselves the President’s supporters – tended to approve of the speech, and said it made them feel proud.” All of this is significant. First, it’s expected that Republicans will approve of the speech given by the Republican President. But nine out of ten is very promising. That serves to further unify the Party behind Trump and dwindle the number of Republicans who are still NeverTrumpers. But notice how many Democrats they said felt “angry” about the speech. Over half of Democrats watching felt that way. Considering who Trump has been painted to be by the media, Hollywood and Democrats over the past couple of years, shouldn’t that number be far higher? And it’s just over half? Doesn’t that mean, then, that almost half of the Democrats watching LIKED the speech? Yes, I understand that only 25% of the viewers identified as Democrat, but nearly half of those Democrats didn’t feel how they would normally feel about anything related to Trump? Now THAT is significant. Then, it mentions Independents and that they “tended to approve of the speech”. That is also quite significant, since Independents tend to be the ones the Republican Party (more specifically, the Establishment) attempts to appeal to. If a lot of them approved of the speech, then the Republican Establishment should be happy with that. And while I did see Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham smiling during the speech, I don’t know that this particular information will get them to like Trump too much more. But, as it is, they can seemingly get along and play nice every once in a while, so there’s that. Overall, Trump’s speech was a smash hit for Americans. He touted our incredible success against ISIS in the Middle East, having almost completely wiped them out in an area that they completely dominated just last year. He called out the horrors of North Korean communism by pointing to an incredibly brave defector who literally risked life and limb to escape that horrible country. Watching that part of the speech, I thought “And people like Chelsea Handler or Manning (I often get the two confused, given that they’re both lunatic Leftists) would rather have Kim Jong-un as their leader than Trump.” Of course, I doubt this speech would change anything regarding that for the Left. Kim Jong-un is a communist who is in charge of a communist regime. Democrats find more in common with him than they do with Trump. Democrats and Little Rocket Man believe in one thing and one thing only: the supreme power of the State. Kim has the power Democrats would kill for. If Kim Jong-un were POTUS, the Democrat Party would celebrate him as the greatest President of all time. Granted, they would be forced to given how he’s forcing his people to treat him as a god, but my point remains. And yet, despite the incredible story of bravery by this man, the Democrats sat and groaned for everything. Throughout the speech, they only had one mood: angry. Even things that they tend to agree on and push for such as protecting 1.8 million illegal immigrants, paid family leave, and more infrastructure spending, all they did was sit. And when Trump touted American greatness, freedom, the flag, the anthem, and opportunity for Americans, they still sat. And THAT was a big mistake on their part, as they would be portrayed as not “progressive”, but anti-American on all fronts. Of course, I already knew they hated this country and wasn’t surprised to see them angry at the mention of American greatness, but most people would think that every member of the government wants America to succeed, even if they have different ways and views on how to do that. Sitting down when the President was talking about our greatness as a country and as a people only shows them to be cynical, hateful, intolerant and anti-American. Most people who don’t hold elected office who vote Democrat vote for them because they think Democrats have a better way of making our country great. That’s why we call them uninformed. Aside from not getting the right information about any specific topic, they also believe Democrats are elected to represent them. No, Democrats are there to OWN them, in Democrats’ minds. I wouldn’t be surprised if Democrats took a sizeable hit in their popularity by sitting down when American greatness was discussed. And especially to those who left the speech when “USA!” chants began, such as Luis Gutierrez (D-IL). Despite the Democrats’ best efforts of tearing this country down and blaming it for the problems of the world, it’s still not cool to be anti-American. Hating this country gets you more negative attention than positive attention. It gets you more people telling you you’re wrong than people telling you you’re right. On Tuesday, Trump delivered a powerful and unifying speech. A speech that should unify Americans and strive to continue Making America Great Again. And on Tuesday, the Democrats showed their true colors. They showed themselves to be the Party of Division by sitting down for everything Trump brought up. They showed themselves to be the Party of Hate by not applauding and cheering for the greatness of our nation. Trump made himself out to be someone looking for unity and Democrats made themselves out to be sore losers who refuse to shake hands with the victor. In keeping theme with adding arsenal to Republican candidates in November, this speech is another weapon to be used against Democrats. Their divisiveness and hatred was in full display Tuesday night. They should now and forever be known as the Party of Hate. Proverbs 4:16 “For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.”
