On June 26th, 2017, the Supreme Court of the United States voted to allow most of Trump’s travel ban executive order to go through. I’ll explain what I mean when I say “most” in a bit. For now, I just want to say that I’m very happy that the Supreme Court has finally gotten to this issue and recognized that Trump is acting within his power as POTUS to issue this travel ban order. I knew that it was only a matter of time before the Left was beaten on this one. But now, unto my explanation. While the Supreme Court has allowed the travel ban to go through, there’s still a catch. “In a per curiam opinion (unanimous decision), the Court partially stayed the injunctions blocking enforcement of executive order 13,780”, according to Breitbart. The opinion says: “We now turn to the preliminary injunctions barring enforcement of the §2(c) entry suspension. We grant the Government’s applications to stay the injunctions, to the extent the injunctions prevent enforcement of §2(c) with respect to foreign nationals who lack any bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States. We leave the injunctions entered by the lower courts in place with respect to respondents and those similarly situated, as specified in this opinion.” In other words, the government is granted full power to stop lower courts from impeding them from banning people that have no personal or business relationship with anyone or any company in the U.S. So basically, the travel ban goes through when it comes to people that don’t have any solid reason to be here. If a man from, say, Libya wants to visit family here in the next 90 or 120 days (the duration of the ban), he has to prove without a shadow of a doubt that he has family here and isn’t b.s.-ing anyone. Now, here’s the biggest reason for having this ban: to improve our vetting procedures. While the Left will want you thinking that this ban is there just to be mean to a bunch of poor, harmless Muslim visitors, the reality of the whole situation is not nearly as overdramatic. The ban was ordered by the president as a temporary ban to keep people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from coming to the U.S. for 90 to 120 days, or 3 to 4 months. And the ban is put in place to allow for government agencies to add in or improve new vetting procedures in order to make sure we’re not letting a bunch of terrorists into our country so easily. Yes, a few are likely to slip past those procedures, but with this, it’s a step towards one of the big promises Trump made during the campaign trail: Make America Safe Again. If we improve vetting procedures in order to keep bad guys from getting through, it means that there is less of a chance of foreign terrorism in the long-run. By no means, does this indicate that there will be no terrorism. As you saw a couple of weeks ago, A TERRORIST TRIED TO SHOOT AND KILL REPUBLICANS DURING A BASEBALL PRACTICE. While the shooter didn’t shout “Allahu Akbar” or declare allegiance to ISIS, he did try to eliminate and terrorize Republicans to keep them from doing their job in Congress. Granted, that counts as home-grown terrorism, but still. The fact remains that Trump, now thanks to the Supreme Court, is managing to do something his predecessor couldn’t (arguably, didn’t want to) do. And that is keeping America safe by any means necessary and within the bounds of our constitutional law. This is no ban on Islam, as the Left wants you to believe. This is a ban on travelers from countries that are known for supporting terrorism. Granted, there are plenty of other countries left in the Middle East that harbor and create terrorists too, but this ban is a good first step towards making this country safe again. Let’s not forget: this is only a TEMPORARY ban. Eventually, people from those areas will be able to travel to this country, but by then, we’ll have implemented far better security measures to ensure the safety of our country. But right now, I’ll simply tally this one in the win column. While there is no flat-out, “you-shall-not-pass” travel ban on these countries, we’re at least making it far more difficult for terrorists to enter the U.S. from now on. And I’ve known, thanks to God, that this travel ban was more than constitutional for a long time. And I just have to thank God that the Supreme Court finally got to it and arrived to the same logical conclusion. Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
