Study Finds That Lockdowns Led To Over 170,000 Excess Deaths In U.S.

We know from experience that lockdowns were a terrible idea, and we’ve seen many studies leading anyone with half a brain to recognize that they were a bad idea, and this is just one of said many studies.
 
Conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the study found that through 2020 and 2021, there were at least 170,000 non-Chinese coronavirus excess deaths in the U.S. It’s important to note that this is a conservative estimate, as the real number is likely closer to 200,000, since they also counted 72,000 “unmeasured Covid deaths”, which is people who died with the virus, not necessarily from it.
 
In other words, roughly 200,000 more people died in the U.S. as a result of the lockdowns than would have if there hadn’t been any lockdowns at all. All over a “virus” with a less than 0.01% mortality rate.
 
A liberal might argue that that is a relatively small figure compared to the total COVID death count (which I will remind you is really 6% of the actual number), but two things ought to be taken into consideration: First, and foremost, the lockdowns were sold as a measure to save lives. This shows it did the exact opposite of that. Second, the number would definitely be far higher (as will soon be demonstrated) if states like Florida hadn’t lifted restrictions as early as they did, and if states like Montana hadn’t avoided locking down to begin with.
 
No matter what one can say about it, lockdowns were abysmal.
 
From the study: “Summing our estimates across causes and age groups, we estimate 171,000 excess non-Covid deaths through the end of 2021 plus 72,000 unmeasured Covid deaths. The Economist has assembled national-level mortality data from around the world and obtains a similar U.S. estimate, which is 199,000 (including any unmeasured Covid) or about 60 persons per 100,000 population (Global Change Data Lab 2022).”
 
In addition: “While Covid deaths overwhelmingly afflict senior citizens, absolute numbers of non-Covid excess deaths are similar for each of the 18-44, 45-64, and over-65 age groups, with essentially no aggregate excess deaths of children. Mortality from all causes during the pandemic was elevated 26 percent for working-age adults (18-64), as compared to 18 percent for the elderly.”
 
The study didn’t just look into the U.S., however. It also took a look at the European Union, and they found a similar 64 non-Covid excess deaths per 100,000. However, one country in that Union stands apart from the rest, which is Sweden. The researchers write: “In contrast, the estimate for Sweden is -33, meaning that non-Covid causes of death were somewhat low during the pandemic. We suspect that some of the international differences are due to the standard used to designate a death as Covid, but perhaps also Sweden’s result is related to minimizing disruption of its citizen’s normal lifestyles.”
 
In essence, since Sweden didn’t lock down at any point, they did not see an increase in non-COVID mortality rates.
 
Another study released by the WHO found Sweden’s average excess death rate was 56 per 100,000, but stands in stark contrast to the UK’s 109, Spain’s 111, Germany’s 116 and Italy’s 133. Essentially, the WHO found that Sweden avoiding locking down (which went against the WHO’s guidance) led to fewer excess deaths than the European countries which followed WHO guidance and locked down.
 
And yet another study from Johns Hopkins University concluded that global lockdowns “are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument. While this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to no public health effects, they have imposed enormous economic and social costs where they have been adopted.”
 
Although I do have to disagree on that last bit from this study, regarding the “lockdowns have had little to no public health effects”. That is abjectly false, as we saw in my previous article discussing lockdowns, where we found that 60,000 children in the United Kingdom were driven to clinical depression as a result of lockdowns. Clinical depression is a public health effect.
 
To summarize, we have found, somewhat retrospectively, that lockdowns not only were destructive of whole economies (less destructive than the Brandon regime, but destructive nonetheless) but also brought about non-COVID-related problems that people couldn’t report on social media without getting punished for “wrongthink”, but failed in their very purpose, which was to save lives.
 
Now, I’m old enough to remember that the lockdowns were only supposed to last for 15 days and were originally for the purposes of not overcrowding hospitals, but the reasoning behind extending the lockdowns went from “slowing” the spread of the virus to “stopping” it and “saving lives.”

Remember how you were accused of “putting the economy over lives” for suggesting we shouldn’t be locked down back in the beginning of this mess? That was indicative that people saw the lockdowns as life-saving measures. As such, the fact that they CAUSED excess deaths is proof positive of what massive failures they were for their supposed objectives.
 
Much like the vaccines, they did the opposite of what they were supposed to do… well, if you believe they were supposed to protect and save lives, as opposed to ruining and ending them.
 
One might be able to chalk up every pandemic policy from the globalists as failures and the advocates themselves as incompetent buffoons, but that would be assuming they really intended to help people out.
 
We are a bit more privy than even before the pandemic that what these globalists want isn’t to help people. Far from it. Some may be in it for the money, but others are in it for domination.
 
The ratio of greedy bastards and Brains from Pinky and The Brain (in other words, people who want to “take over the world”, for those who didn’t watch that cartoon) may not be all that certain, but what is certain is that their efforts and actions have led to untold numbers of deaths and unimaginable numbers of lives utterly ruined.
 
Actions and efforts outside of the pandemic policies, mind you.
