If you were to ask a Leftist which country he or she believes is the most oppressive, regressive and tyrannical nation in the world, 9 times out of 10, they will say it’s the U.S. and the tenth time will be a non-answer because they are groggy from nap time. However, we all know very well that the U.S., while not perfect, is still FAR from the dictatorial and oppressive nation that the Left claims it is. You don’t have to look very far to recognize this – the fact that the Left can attack Donald Trump without fear of imprisonment is enough evidence. However, let’s ignore such facts for now and focus on an actually dictatorial and oppressive regime which, unsurprisingly, the Left is all buddy-buddy with: the Islamic “Republic” of Iran. According to the Jerusalem Post, the Iranian Supreme Court “confirmed the death sentence of national wrestling champion Navid Afkari for his 2018 protest against the regime in Tehran. The news website Iran International reported on Saturday that Iran’s clerical regime imposed two death sentences, six years and six months in prison, and 74 lashes on Afkari. His brother, Vahid Afkari, received a prison sentence of 54 years and six months in prison and 74 lashes. The third brother, Habib, was slapped with a prison term of 27 years and three months and 74 lashes.” A national wrestling champion is being executed and his two brothers are being given lengthy prison sentences for the “high crime” of protesting the regime in Tehran two years ago. This would just about be the equivalent to LeBron James being arrested, tried and sentenced to TWO death sentences (which really goes to show just how ridiculous the “justice” system works in that third-world craphole) for the “crime” of having protested against Donald Trump’s administration. It would be very hard to imagine such a situation happening here, let alone the absolute outrage that would come as a result of such an injustice. And yet, this is what’s happening in Iran and somehow, someway, the Left is still convinced that America is anywhere close to that level of oppression. Let me tell you what oppression is. Oppression is Facebook deleting posts that support Kyle Rittenhouse. Oppression is Twitter “accidentally” banning people who defend Rittenhouse, including the kid’s LAWYERS. Oppression is the fake news media attacking a teenager, lambasting him and smearing him, maliciously changing his life forever JUST because he is a political opponent. Oppression is being sentenced TO DEATH for protesting the government. Notice that each instance of oppression I talked about that exists in this country is NOT coming from the federal government itself, but rather, from Left-wing businesses and organizations. This is because Leftism is oppression itself. This doesn’t mean that the government itself hasn’t been oppressive to some extent. Dinesh D’Souza, for example, was given five years probation and 8 months in prison for campaign finance violations (giving more than $20,000 to a GOP candidate in her race) back during the Obama administration. Yet, the Clintons are allowed to receive millions from foreign agents with total impunity JUST because they technically did not donate to her campaign directly, but rather, to the highly corrupt Clinton Foundation. So the government definitely is capable of being rather oppressive, but to allege that it is on par with some of the most oppressive and tyrannical dictatorships to have ever existed is utter madness. Leftists will claim that particular sets of people are “oppressed” because in many instances, they see a white cop JUSTIFIABLY shooting at a suspect who happens to be black. Despite the fact that there is NO defense of Jacob Blake, the Left will defend him to no end. Despite the fact that Rayshard Brooks was justifiably killed, the Left has insisted that “yet another white cop hunted down and executed a black man”. They have convinced a lot of black people that they are practically hunted down by police just because of their skin color. They have convinced a lot of people in general that police are the bad guys and that defunding them completely will bring about a utopia where nothing bad ever happens and unicorns fart rainbows. They haven’t convinced a majority, thank God, but have convinced far more people than they should have been able to. There is no rhyme or reason to believe ANYTHING that the Left says about any given topic, be it climate change, abortion, homosexuality and transgenderism, race relations, etc. And yet, many do, not because it is a logical attachment, but because it is an emotional one. We can PLAINLY see that America is nowhere close to the level of oppression that regimes like Iran, North Korea, China, etc. are, and yet, many are convinced that they are all practically the same (and some will even argue that those countries are better, again, indicating that this is not an intelligent or logical attachment). Returning to the situation with Iran, another aspect of it is that, allegedly, two of the Afkari brothers were tortured into giving confessions. The reason this is highly credible is because it comes from Iran International itself, and considering how “journalism” usually works in these dictatorships, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a government-run website. Iran International reported: “Navid and Vahid Afkari were severely tortured to give confessions, and the testimony of witnesses about their beatings and torture are even referenced in the case, but the court has ignored it.” Now, one could ask: “Why would an Iran-owned website admit this?” To which I say: do you really think Iran cares how it is viewed by someone who gives enough of a damn to read through their news sites? They are openly hostile to their own people when they protest against the regime (as evidenced by this very case). Remember when a bunch of women were protesting against wearing the hijab? Yeah, the regime would routinely make arrests and even open fire on demonstrators. Compare that to what we are seeing in Democrat-run cities across the country today. We have rioters being DEFENDED by the fake news media (when the polls don’t show people being opposed to riots, at least) and many on the Left pretending that everything is fine and there is nothing to see. That some peaceful part of Portland is “obviously” an indication that there is nothing wrong anywhere else in the city, an argument which is the equivalent of December 7th, 1941 being rather peaceful because not ALL of Pearl Harbor was attacked. Rioters assault cops and destroy property, both private and public, with much impunity because the fake news media (which, as the days go by, more and more, they prove that they EARNED the moniker of “enemy of the people”) runs cover for them by saying they are “peaceful protesters” or by sticking their heads in the sand and ignoring all the violence that proves they are b.s.-ing everybody. And while arrests are made, the Leftist DA’s of the various cities release the rioters without bail so the destruction and chaos may continue largely unimpeded. Compare and contrast the two situations in Iran and the U.S. In America, rioters get to destroy buildings, assault people and cops, and get released a few hours after their arrest. In Iran, a guy gets two death sentences for having actually peacefully protested the dictatorial regime, and his two brothers also get lengthy prison sentences. Oh, and reportedly, all of this comes after having been tortured into confessing to the “crimes” levied against them. According to the Jerusalem Post, “Iran’s judiciary charged the brothers with 20 different crimes including ‘attending illegal gatherings, assembly and conspiracy to commit crimes against national security, and insulting the supreme leader.’” Meanwhile, in America, that first charge is levied not against the rioters but against people who attend funerals. Not against those who illegally gather during a pandemic to “protest” and cause chaos, but against those who want to visit family next door (which also goes to show the government’s ability to be oppressive, particularly when it is a Leftist government that is in charge). Anyone still wanna tell me that America is at all on the same level of oppression as the Iranian regime is? Just look at that last charge of “insulting the supreme leader” to find that the two nations are entirely incomparable. If it were a crime to “insult the President of the United States”, every single person working in the fake news media, every single Washington establishment politician and roughly half the country would be in prison. The American Left doesn’t know real oppression, but they are all too excited to try and oppress the rest of us. Isaiah 10:1-2 “Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!”
