A few days ago, the nation watched a horrendous video of an elderly man being shot and killed in Cleveland, Ohio. During the video, the aggressor, Steve Stephens, says “Found myself somebody I’m going to kill, this guy right here, this old dude.” Steve then proceeds to exit the vehicle, walk up to the old man, named Robert Godwin Sr, 74, and asked Mr. Godwin to say the name “Joy Lane”, apparently Steve’s past girlfriend. Steve says in the video that she’s “the reason this is about to happen to you.” Afterwards, Steve proceeds to pull out a handgun on Mr. Godwin, who attempts to shield himself with a plastic grocery bag, saying that he doesn’t know anyone of that name. Steve then proceeds to shoot Mr. Godwin in the head and points the camera at Mr. Godwin’s now dead body, bleeding with a blood trail next to his body. Steve then proceeds to show a clearer shot of Mr. Godwin’s dead body, saying “That mother f***er dead because of you, Joy.” And proceeds to return to his vehicle and drives off. This video is quite shocking and blood curdling. But this is the kind of world we live in, one where evil can appear anywhere at any time in any form. I’m glad to inform that this criminal is now unable to harm one more innocent soul and will now be spending eternity in Hell. Steve was pursued by police in Erie, Pennsylvania and killed himself when his car spun out of control after a PIT maneuver from a police vehicle. In the end, Steve decided that, instead of trying to make amends for his crimes and trying to accept his due punishment, trying to give himself a chance at redemption, he would end his own life like a coward and face eternal damnation. But you see, this was evil walking around. Aside from the murder against Mr. Godwin, Steve had said, in previous Facebook posts, that he had killed 15 people. In his first post, he had called the shootings an “Easter Day slaughter.” In that post, he confessed to have killed 12 people and wouldn’t stop until his mother and another woman called him, presumably Joy Lane. I don’t know what this Joy Lane did to Steve, but it’s no excuse for what he did and claimed to have done. This dude says he killed 12 people on an “Easter Day slaughter” and killed one more in a video he posted to Facebook Live. This man very clearly had evil in his heart. No sane man, let alone a man of God would ever end the life of another human being, particularly someone innocent at random, for any reason in the world. There are things in this life that make you angry, but only an evil heart would be willing to go to such lengths to quench his anger. He clearly had no respect for life at all. And he clearly had no respect for his Maker at all. The fact that he called it an “Easter Day slaughter”, knowing its Christian root, makes me furious. But beyond the date it happened, the fact that it happened altogether is horrendous. This is what happens when you don’t have God in your life. You become prone to losing it entirely. Your sense of judgment becomes insanely askew. Instead of kneeling and praying, he decided to take up arms and slaughter people at random off the streets. Let me tell you, you’d never see a man of God, a true man of God, doing this kind of thing. If he does it and claims to be a man of God, he clearly isn’t. He may be lying to himself, but he can’t lie to God. No one that claims to be of the Lord and truly is would EVER take the life of another human being unless it’s for self-defense or the defense of a loved one. We own guns so we don’t have to use them. We pray so that we never have to use them. But we have them so that, if we have to, we will use them. But we’d never use them without knowing it’s the only course of action for survival. And let me repeat that last word: SURVIVAL. Steve had that gun to kill the innocent. In no time, the Left will likely blame the gun rather than the individual, so I’m getting ahead of the curve to say that it’s the evil man with the evil heart that’s to blame for this. Evil is the ultimate cause of this and the other claimed deaths. Evil is the enemy of God, and it’s a powerful one against humans. But don’t get discouraged, because in the end, God wins and evil loses. Revelation 20:10 “And the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
