If you’ve ever read the Old Testament you've noticed a cycle in Israel’s life as a nation – they go from being blessed to being cursed. They go from receiving the abundance that God only can give, to receiving punishment that only God can give. From the promise of taking the Israelites to a land “flowing with milk and honey”, to sending a Savior, to the promise that we will lend and not borrow – all blessings promised by God Himself in Scriptures. And yet, Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Romans, the Assyrians and so on - punished by God time and time again - but delivered every time afterwards. The question is: what was the reason for their punishment?
As you read Scriptures you know that the Israelites over and over again grew apart from God, abandoned Him, began worshiping pagan gods and disobeyed God at every opportunity, trusting in themselves rather than God. Israel brought curse upon itself. Each cycle of blessings was the direct result of Israel's faithfulness towards God, and each cycle of curses was the direct result of Israel's unfaithfulness towards God.
Why am I telling you this?
Because the Bible teaches that the fate of a nation is entirely dependent on the worldview held by its inhabitants. So please keep this in mind as I share the latest poll conducted by Pew Research Center.
Pew Research Center conducted a poll, with the results published on November 15th, in which 63% of the adults polled indicated that they want religious groups to remain out of politics, 76% don’t think Churches should endorse specific candidates and 37% of them believe Churches have too much influence in politics.
In addition, the poll shows that 55% of Americans maintain that Religion is a force for good in society, 53% think it strengthens morality and 50% believe it brings people together.
What’s happening to America? Why do people insist that we forget God? Why do we even ask God to bless America?
America was founded on Christian principles – in fact, the Pilgrims signed a contract, called the Mayflower Compact, in which they stated that they were coming to our shores “in the name of God” with a clear purpose: “for the Glory of God and the advancement of the Christian Faith”. That was their purpose.
Fast forward to the 1740s and you find yourself in the middle of a Religious Revival also known as the Great Awakening led by pastors such as Jonathan Edwards and his famous sermon ‘Sinners in the hands of an angry God’. The Great Awakening ultimately led to the American Revolution of 1776.
Furthermore, James Madison, the architect of our Constitution, is attributed for saying this:
"We have staked the whole future of American Civilization NOT upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to sustain ourselves, according to the ten commandments."
That’s right, my dear friend. Our constitution and our entire civilization was founded on the Ten Commandments – the very Ten Commandments that are now banned from public buildings. And yes, this quote is unconfirmed as having been said by Madison, but it does reflect the attitude of the times and the beliefs held by Madison, who firmly believed in man's ability to self-govern and believed in Christianity as "the best and purest religion" in Federalist #39.
What's more, while that quote is unconfirmed, the following one is confirmed:
"[T]he belief in a God All-Powerful, wise, and good is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities to be impressed with it."
So it becomes very evident that both quotes - the one confirmed and the one unconfirmed - by Madison clearly reflect both the attitude of the times and the personal beliefs of the man.
But in any case, if you fast forward to the Civil War, in which the Democrats in the South were willing to die to keep their slaves, ultimately even the abolition of slavery was strongly pushed by religious groups. For example, in 1818 the Presbyterian Church General Assembly adopted a resolution that used bold language to reject slavery: "We consider the voluntary enslaving of one part of the human race by another, as a gross violation of the most precious and sacred rights of human nature; [and] as utterly inconsistent with the law of God."
Our history shows that America, as long as it remained a Christian country, saw blessing after blessing after blessing coming from God.
But if Church is required to stay out of politics, how do we expect to have a moral and blessed country? If you think about it, every policy discussion is a moral discussion: from taxation, to abortion, to transgender bathrooms to drag queen story hour in kindergarten to healthcare….ALL of these issues are moral issues. And if we’re going to discuss moral issues apart from the standard that is the morals written in the Bible, why wouldn’t a just God consider punishment for us?
We have the benefit of Israel’s history – we know what happened to THEM, how come we don’t realize that, unless we turn to God again, the only possible fate for us is severe punishment? And how are we going to turn to God again unless Christians step up to the plate and begin influencing policy?
There is such thing as separation of Church and State. But what this means is the State doesn’t tell the Church what to preach on and the Church doesn’t form armies to defend the State. Christians can serve, of course, in the military. But the Church as an organization is not to maintain an army.
Separation of State and Church was never meant to be separation of State from God. We’re still one nation under God. And if we’re going to Make America Great Again, we need to make America GODLY again. And this will take the effort and courage of all of us Christians to influence policy. And you cannot do that unless we get involved in Politics – and that includes pastors, priests, theologians, etc. We have two options: either we let pagans impose their gods on us (be it sexual immorality, abortion, etc.) or we arm ourselves with knowledge of what God says about all of these issues and influence morality with the only moral standard that exists: the Word of God.
“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.“

Liberals have a way with words. They’ve managed to impose their own interpretation of the 1st amendment with a LIE. There is no such thing as the Separation of State and Church – there never was. It was not what the Framers wanted.
You see, American history doesn’t start with the constitution. It starts when the first settlers came to these shores fleeing religious persecution. In Europe governments had adopted specific religions and as a result anybody who didn’t practice that particular religion was subject to persecution and death.
The Framers, wiser than you can ever imagine, decided that the government was not to adopt any particular religion to avoid potential religious persecution. To avoid a repeat of what happened in Europe.
But liberals have turned this into the ‘separation’ of state and church. The keyword here, which liberals have coined, is ‘separation’.
What Framers intended was NOT the separation of State and Church – as in a divorce, for example – but rather the DISTINCTION between State and Church.
For example, we can say that there is a distinction between the soul and the body of a person. It’s two different things but both are a central part of a person. But if instead of distinguishing between your soul and your body we SEPARATE your soul from your body….well, we just KILLED you.
What the Founding Fathers intended was to distinguish between the ROLES of the government and the Church.
It’s not the role of the church to form an army, to deliver mail or to tax people.
It’s not the role of the government to establish theological doctrine.
But one nation under God is how this country was created. Church and government are not mutually exclusive.
What is the role of government? Why do we even have governments at all?
The government’s role is simple – it has TWO main reasons for its existence:
These are the only reasons why we have governments AT ALL
When the government passes laws punishing murder, it must also establish a way to impart justice to those who break the law.
What is the role of the Church?
Obviously in order to preach and speak and be free to practice your religion you must have freedom of speech.
When the government passes laws on abortion, gay marriage, etc, the Church has not only the right, by virtue of our freedom of speech, but also the OBLIGATION to speak up. After all, these are ALL ETHICAL issues. The Church’s role is to PREACH the Gospel which is filled with information about what’s RIGHT and WRONG. It’s all ETHICAL rules we follow.
And let’s face it – all the government does really is REGULATE ethics. Every single thing the government regulates IS ETHICAL.
Think about it. We have laws regulating behavior – we punish murder, theft, fraud and we regulate marriage, levels of taxation, which bathroom to use, etc. What are these if not ethical issues? And given all of these things are ethical issues, the Church has the right and the obligation to speak up.
The Church is accountable to GOD for what we do.
The government is ALSO ACCOUNTABLE TO GOD – hence ‘one nation under God’.
The Framers NEVER INTENDED TO SEPARATE GOD FROM GOVERNMENT.
America is a THEISTIC nation
It’s not a Theocracy – the Middle East is a Theocracy and we all know what’s going on over there. It’s THEISTIC. It means America BELIEVES IN GOD.
If you’re religious, don’t be afraid to speak up over ethical issues the government has at hand.
If you’re not religious, suck it up! And let the Church speak up. If you don’t, then you’re violating our freedom of speech. We have the right to oppose gay marriage and abortion. You don’t like it? Too bad.
You see, God has created you and me and Government. We’re to submit to the government and be models of civil obedience – except when the government imparts laws that are in direct conflict with God’s laws.
One nation under God means the government submits to God. Everything the government does MUST be consistent with right and wrong AS DEFINED IN SCRIPTURES, because we are a THEISTIC NATION.
Romans 13: 1-7
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed

Whenever the left fights to remove the Ten Commandments or a Christmas tree from a public building, or your children’s right to read their Bible in school, they usually refer to the separation of State and Church as the reason behind their fight.
Never mind that, instead, they’re polluting our minds with their own version of religion – atheism. Atheism, after all, is the BELIEF that there IS no God. Atheists, in other words, are BELIEVERS - they believe in SOMETHING, they just don’t believe in the same thing Christians do. They can't prove God doesn't exist any more than Christians can prove He does.
Atheists are religious people too...
The decades-long war on God Atheists have been pursuing has had terrible consequences on our society: in public schools or buildings, Evolution is in and the Bible is out; promiscuity is in and the Ten Commandments are out.
What am I saying?
I’m saying that while atheists devote their lives to condemning righteousness and everything that’s good for you, they’re also committed to promoting everything that’s wrong for you.
Evolution is just a theory, as even scientists agree – and, worst of all, it’s a theory that's never been proven and can never be proven. Nobody's ever seen a monkey evolve into a person. It’s not just a theory, it’s a ridiculous theory based on the IMAGINATION of an atheist who found it hard to believe that God had anything to do with the creation of this world.
Charles Darwin was ready to accept the evidence of creation while denying the existence of a CREATOR. As if, for example, I saw the evidence of this computer I’m using to type this blog, without recognizing the fact that someone, somewhere in Asia built it. Somebody I’ve never met built this computer whether I want to accept it or not. Similarly, somebody we’ve never met created this awesome universe…
And don’t get me started with promiscuity. Promiscuity leads to disease, depression and poverty. Women feel used, men can't find anybody to spend the rest of their lives with, gays feel awkward and rejected, and they get sick so they spend money on doctors and shrinks. There’s nothing good about promiscuity.
But, behold! Bring the Bible into the class and just wait to see how quickly they label you a bigot, a lunatic, a cross worshiper. You bet I’m a cross worshiper – what else would you worship? Miley Cyrus? Obama? Money?
But do they teach you any of this in school?
Of course not.
If they taught you anything of value in school you would know that the separation of State and Church was determined so that the government would not adopt any one particular religion. The founding of this country was based on religious liberty, so the government per se has never adopted a religion.
But did the Framers intend to forget about GOD altogether?
No. On the contrary.
The separation of State and Church does not mean the separation of State and God. It’s not what our Founding Fathers intended.
James Madison, the architect of our Constitution said this:
‘We have staked the whole future of American Civilization NOT upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to sustain ourselves, ACCORDING TO THE TEN COMMANDMENTS’
George Washington said:
'We ought to be no less persuaded that the perpetual smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that DISREGARDS ETERNAL RULE of order and Right which HEAVEN ITSELF HAS ORDAINED'.
Abraham Lincoln said:
'In regards to this great book, the Bible, I have this but to say: it is the best gift God has given to men. But for it, we would not know right from wrong’
Not only is there RIGHT and WRONG – it’s the BIBLE that tells you what’s right and what’s wrong.
And I could go on and on - but you get the picture.
Friend, our Founding Fathers never intended for the state to be separated from God. In fact, God has been the light, the inspiration and the guidance to our leaders ever since the Pilgrims landed on our shores. Given the experience of persecution that Jews and Christians have been subjected to for thousands and thousands of years, the Framers didn’t want the state to adopt any specific religion and potentally one day justify persecution. But make no mistake – God has always been a key source of guidance to our BEST leaders. Those wonderful leaders who have promoted righteousness and what is good for us have always sought God before making crucial decisions.
Separation of State and Church is another lie propagated by democrats – good governments and God are supposed to walk together.
1 Peter 2:13-17: Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
