While that may seem like tremendous news, it really shouldn’t be so unexpected. And neither should another shift towards more Millennials backing Democrats in the future. Why? Because people always change their minds and their memories are very short.
But before we get to that, let’s look at the actual numbers provided by the Reuters/Ipsos poll.
“In the last two years, Millennial support for Democrats over Republicans on the generic congressional ballot dropped around 9 percentage points, to 46 percent. The demographic’s support for Republicans has remained steady at about 28 percent… Some Millennials who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 are now looking at supporting GOP congressional candidates, the poll found. And the same young voters are almost evenly split on the question of which party takes better care of the economy, with 34 percent favoring Democrats compared to 32 percent favoring Republicans… White Millennials have turned towards Republicans the most. Support for both parties among young white voters is equal at 39 percent. This marks a big shift from 2016, when white Millennials supported Democrats over Republicans 47 percent to 33 percent.”
That is an awful lot of information, but it’s mostly good news, considering things. This data shows that people, at least Millennials, are taking notice of the good things the President and the GOP are doing for the country.
Yahoo News shared the story of Terry Hood, a 34-year-old African-American in Louisiana. According to Yahoo News, Hood voted for Clinton in 2016, but “he will consider a Republican for Congress because he believes the party is making it easier to find jobs and he applauds the recent Republican-led tax cut. ‘It sounds strange to me to say this about the Republicans, but they’re helping with even the small things… They’re taking less taxes out of my paycheck. I notice that.’”
While the Democrat Party has tried to demonize the tax cuts, reality is far different and people notice that.
Now, while this is good news, we should also take things with a grain of salt. People change their minds all the time.
Charles Cooke from National Review puts it best: “[the Reuters poll] demonstrates that our politics remains as fluid as ever… In [their] view, all progressives have to do in order to take and keep power is wait for their opponents to die. In this view, conservatism is the philosophy of the old and the white and the male, and, as America becomes more brown and the elderly slowly disappear, so too will their creed. Young people tend to be Democrats, and so do non-whites. Before long, then, a supermajority is surely inevitable… The problem with this view is obvious: Namely, that both people and circumstances change.”
“This concept is all too often lost on the political press, which has a terrible habit of assuming that what is true now will be true forever more. In 2004, Bush’s winning strategy was destined to marginalize the Democrats for a generation. That, quite obviously, didn’t happen. In 2008, Barack Obama’s massive victory spelled the end of the GOP and the death of conservatism. That didn’t happen either. And why would it? Just four years elapsed between Goldwater’s blowout loss and Nixon’s winning the White House in ’68. There was only six years between Watergate and Reagan’s first victory. Just two years sat between the financial meltdown of 2008 and 2010’s blowout GOP mid-term victory. In 2014, Millennials shifted away from the Democrats. In 2016, they went back. Now, they’re losing interest again.”
This is very important to note because it personifies numbers. What I mean by that is that when people look at polls, all they see is numbers, not the people behind them. And people, as I’ve said, change their minds all the time.
Is it surprising that young people tend to be Democrats? Absolutely not! Democrats appeal to feelings, emotion and a skewed sense of right and wrong that gives people false hope about the future. Because that is essentially all young people have: a future. What happens today often will have a significant impact in the future. Obama absolutely owned “hope” and the results showed at the polls.
Similarly, as a Millennial, hope for the future is one of the biggest things for me in my life. But I also know that the Democrat Party is not the party of hope, but destruction, hate, and victimhood. Granted, the current GOP leadership (meaning the establishment) has soured me on the idea of identifying myself as a Republican. But I still do, largely because I believe in the country’s and Party’s founding principles of conserving the good while moving forward towards more liberty for all of God’s children.
I’m not likely to ever change my mind about the kind of people I support, but in that regard, I’m not like most people. As you can very clearly tell, politics are a very large part of my life. While I don’t ever plan on running for office (lower than President, of course, being a naturalized citizen), who is representing me and my beliefs is a big deal. Currently, Donald Trump represents most of my beliefs, and thus, he’s not likely to lose my vote unless he betrays his base and agenda.
But for most people, politics aren’t such a big part of their life, at least actively. According to Reuters, the Democrats held a massive lead with Millennials against Trump and that lead has largely disappeared. But that is not indicative of a permanent cultural shift.
Like Charles Cooke said, events that looked devastating for a political party ended up meaning next to nothing eventually. Goldwater’s loss to LBJ was huge, but Nixon still won eventually. Nixon’s Watergate scandal was devastating for his presidency and career, and is still talked about today (mostly by the Left who wish to make a repeat of it with Trump), but Reagan still obliterated Carter not long after and won by an even bigger margin in his reelection.
Obama’s victory was seen as the death of the GOP and conservatism, but they won majority of Congress just two years later.
The American people, in each and every significant election, has shown to have changed their minds at one point or another and changed them back.
And, furthermore, the fact that Millennials change their minds too is both unsurprising and a good sign for the future. In case you’ve forgotten, back in March, I shared a story about a USA Today poll showing that young people aren’t as keen on gun control as you might think. And according to The Guardian, a Quinnipiac poll finds that “Americans aged 18-34 most likely to oppose assault weapons ban.”
So while the Millennial generation tends to be more liberal, they are seemingly relatively conservative, at least compared to older generations, regarding gun control and an assault weapons ban.
I won’t go into too much detail about the gun control issue, but the reason I share this is because it’s important to point out that Millennials are people too, and, for the millionth time, people always change their minds.
So while today, Millennials are shifting away from Democrats, that doesn’t mean it will remain that way. But it’s important to highlight the reasons for such shifts. For one, Trump and the GOP have severely cut taxes and regulations that have massively helped the economy. Two, the Democrats have been showing their true colors and exposed themselves as hateful of everything that isn’t like them. Despite the fact that Trump is doing a great job for the country, the Democrats want to take it all away just because they don’t like Trump and they think he shouldn’t have won.
What that Reuters poll tells us is that Millennials change their minds too. It’s important to restate this because Millennials are one of the younger generations of people old enough to vote at this point. Being young, they (we, as I am also a Millennial) lack wisdom and experience. The Democrats tell Millennials what to think, feel and believe, and so, they do. Simply because they don’t really know much better.
Democrats constantly make promises they can’t deliver and young people vote for them because they haven’t seen for themselves what rotten garbage the Democrat Party is. Like Winston Churchill said, if you’re not a liberal at 20, you don’t have a heart. If you are not a conservative at 40, you don’t have a brain.
What he means, obviously, is that young people base their decisions more on emotions and not logic or wisdom. Part of that is because they are not old enough to be considered “wise”. Even I could not claim to be wise since I still have my entire life ahead of me. As a conservative Millennial, I could say I’m more logical and informed, but not wise, for wisdom comes with experience. Beyond a few years of Obama’s 2 terms and Trump’s first term, I don’t have much experience in the realm of politics.
I’m not old enough to remember Bush (I was also in a different country during his presidency, so that is a factor) and not old enough to remember all of Obama’s administration. All I know is that Obama was a commie, his policies reflected as much, and that Trump is, in my mind, comparable to my idea of Ronald Reagan.
But most people my age don’t think the way I do. They tend to think more with their feelings, which is not really thinking at all. What that Reuters poll shows us is that, really, Millennials are no different to any other generation’s young people. Democrat-leaning in the beginning, but their minds can be changed.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Throughout multiple articles, I have repeatedly talked about the Millennial generation and their socialist/wussy tendencies. So it’s easy to forget that there is an entirely newer generation that is younger than them and has not made much noise (aside from the lunatic anti-2nd Amendment Parkland students), largely because they are still rather young.
According to The Barna Group, a religious research company, 13% of Gen Z (those born between 1999 and 2015), identifies as Atheist (as seen above). That may not seem like a whole lot, but you can see from the chart that that number has doubled from the Millennial generation.
Church Militant, another religious research group, reports a “decrease in the number of professed Christians. Over the course of four generations, the percentage who call themselves Christians dropped from 75% among Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) to 59% in Generation Z.”
Barna also reports that: “More than one-third of Gen Z (37%) believes it is not possible to know for sure if God is real, compared to 32% of all adults.”
However, as bad as those numbers may seem, there are also very good numbers.
According to a 2016 study by Dean & Provost, 41% of Gen Z report attending weekly church services, compared to 18% of Millennials who said they went to church at that age, 21% of Gen X saying the same, and 26% of Boomers.
The American Conservative also shows that Gen Z tends to be more morally conservative than the previous generations.
“According to a study released this month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sexual intercourse among high school students had decreased in the United States by quite a bit. Among males, 43.2 percent of high schoolers surveyed admitted to having sexual intercourse, while 39.2 percent of females answered the same. While that may seem high, it’s a stark decrease from 2005, when 47.9 percent of males and 45.7 percent of females admitted to having sex. And it’s an even bigger dip from the more than 50 percent that the CDC counted in 1995. According to a 1998 Los Angeles Times article, high school sex started to rise in the ‘70s, hit its peak in the ‘80s, then began to slowly decrease in the ‘90s.”
What all of this tells us is that, while more Gen Z kids say they don’t believe in God, the ones that do believe in God do so very strongly. Not only that, but they are also having sex a good deal less as well. And even Forbes tells us that Gen Z tends to be more competitive.
In an article on Forbes, the writer detailed 8 different ways in which Gen Z will differ from Millennials in the workplace.
The first way that they share is that “Gen Z is motivated by security”. What they mean is that Gen Z, having grown up during the Great Recession and Obama’s terrible economy, tends to put more of a focus on financial and job security than Millennials. “While millennials are often seen as more idealistic, and more motivated by purpose than a paycheck, Generation Z may lean more toward security and money.”
They are essentially Yuppies 2.0.
The second way Gen Z is different is that they “may be more competitive”. “As a cohort, millennials are said to be collaborative and teamwork oriented. They want to work in an environment where inclusion is a priority, and where everybody works together to advance goals. Gen Z, on the other hand, is said to be defined by its competitiveness. They want to work on their own and be judged on their own merits rather than those of their team.”
“Gen Z also understands that there’s a need for constant skill development in order to stay relevant.”
The third way Gen Z is different, which actually ties in to the second, is that “Gen Z wants independence”.
“Gen Zers’ independence ties into their competitiveness, but they generally like to work alone… Many also want to manage their own projects so that their skills and abilities can shine through. They do not want to depend on other people to get their work done.”
Another way, which is actually even more surprising and endearing, in which they are different is that “Gen Z is more entrepreneurial”.
“Generation Z is 55% more likely to want to start a business than millennials. In fact, a full 72% of Gen Z high school students say that they want to start a business.”
All of this information is indicative that Generation Z is more truly fiscally conservative than many of the previous generations. Not to mention that, while more Gen Zers claim to be Atheists, the ones that do claim to be Christian are very solidly Christian if that 41% weekly church attendance is any indication.
If the Millennial generation is the socialist generation, Gen Z is the generation that will fight the previous generation to keep this country capitalist.
Now, I don’t know that for sure, of course. A lot can change in an entire generation. Frankly, knowing only what Millennials want to accomplish, I was all but sure that America would almost entirely crumble as a capitalist nation. That’s a thought that really scared me as I’m part of that generation and I will have to deal with their imbecilic values being transformed into actual legislation one day.
But with the numbers and statistics that we are seeing from Gen Z, as well as that competitive drive that Forbes is talking about, I can have at least some hope that Gen Z can truly take the fight to these socialist children (who are older than Gen Zers, but somehow also less mature, seemingly) and at least keep this country from going full-on communist over the course of this century.
“But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”
If you were to strictly watch cable or network news, you’d believe the world is on fire. You'd believe that Mueller was this close to busting Trump. That the world is literally on fire due to Global Warming. And you'd believe every kid in America supports gun control legislation
However, reality is an entirely different story. According to a USA Today poll, of over 600 middle and high school students surveyed, 47% said they believe tightening gun laws and background checks would prevent mass shootings, while 37% disagreed. Of over 500 18-24 year olds surveyed, 54% were confident that tightened gun control measures would prevent mass shootings, while 33% disagreed.
Obviously, the advantage still swings to the ridiculous Leftist notion that more gun control means safer schools and places. However, watching cable or network news featuring the borderline (or actual) communists David Hogg (who made a gesture similar to a Nazi salute) and Emma Gonzalez (who wore a Cuban flag patch on her jacket), and watching everyone else speaking at the ironic March for our Lives event (I’ll explain why it’s ironic momentarily), you’d think that they represent a vast majority of people around their age. And while most do agree with the overall message of more gun control, not nearly as many actually do.
And no doubt, that’s something that infuriates the Left.
But that’s not all. There’s something else, something a bit more important, to be discussed here.
According to USA Today: “Seven in 10 say schools should be required to have an armed police officer on site. Six in 10 say schools should be required to have metal detectors at the door; more than two-thirds of those under 18 felt that way.”
I’m sure you can tell why that infuriates the Left, perhaps even more than the previous statistic. First, this shows that 70% of the students surveyed AGREE with Trump and CONSERVATIVES about having armed security on campus. Second, this shows that 60% want “metal detectors at the door”. Do you know what one of the biggest arguments made by the Left against this proposal is? That the school would essentially be turned into a prison or it would at least feel like a prison.
To which I say: when was the last time someone went INTO a prison and shot it up? Besides, school already feels like prison anyway for students. What’s a little added security that would actually KEEP STUDENTS SAFE?
Third, and perhaps most importantly, this shows that most students want MORE guns on campus, so long as they’re in the hands of hired and trained security whose very living depends on protecting students from potential or actual danger. In other words, these students want a GOOD GUY WITH A GUN on campus!
And if the Left hasn’t exploded in rage like the Krakatoa, they surely should by this point. That very statistic demonstrates the support of the very OPPOSITE of what the Left wants. The Left doesn’t want good guys to have guns. They want to be the only ones with the guns. Because that means they’re the only ones with all the power.
The Left doesn’t honestly care about people; they only care about themselves. The thing about school shootings, or shootings in general, is that they bring about benefits to the Left. They get an opportunity to spout nonsense about how dangerous guns are and that we need more gun control at the expense of people they don’t really care about.
They get an opportunity to indoctrinate people (particularly young people) and lie to them about who’s responsible for this. They never blame the individual. No, they blame every other registered gun owner who hasn’t broken the law. They blame an organization that protects people’s rights to the 2nd Amendment when they had nothing to do with any shootings at all.
I didn’t care to watch the March for our Lives event. But I did see some things on Twitter. Some signs blaming the NRA and have heard chants asking the NRA how many people they killed that day. Zero would be the actual number, not that any of them care or, for some, believe.
Heck, some of them think the NRA actually SELLS guns, so it’s not far-fetched for some or most of them to believe the NRA is actually responsible for the deaths of people on a daily basis.
But while the NRA’s numbers are zero, let me tell you of an organization that kills 900 people every single day, according to an annual report from 2015-16.
That organization is Planned Parenthood. No surprise there, really. And that’s why I called the March for our Lives event “ironic”. These kids march against an organization that isn’t responsible for a single death, but utterly ignore or even support an organization that kills children on a daily basis.
For every child that these indoctrinated sheep believe were killed by the NRA, a million more were actually killed by PP. According to a website called numberofabortions.com, over 60 million children have been killed since 1973, the year abortion became legal. That’s roughly 60 million more children than the NRA has killed.
That’s roughly 10 times more people who have been killed via abortion than Jews were killed during the Holocaust. That’s 10 million more people than what historians estimate Joseph Stalin killed during his reign over the Soviet Union.
Now, Planned Parenthood isn’t responsible for every single one of those abortions. And abortions occurred even before Roe v. Wade, though they were illegal. But one interesting tid bit of information for you to know (if you don’t already know) is that Planned Parenthood is not a relatively new organization. Far from it. According to Wikipedia, the organization was formed in 1916. OVER 100 YEARS AGO!
Now, I doubt they would perform abortions (or at least, they wouldn’t report it, since it would’ve been illegal at the time) before 1973. But the organization has been around for a very long time, so it’s not a far-fetched idea that, while maybe not every single one of those 60 million plus abortions were their doing, that a good percentage of them are.
If you want to find a real child-killing organization, don’t look at the NRA, because they don’t kill people. Rather, look at Planned Parenthood. They will gleefully kill your (and their own) children and celebrate it in massive events.
Regardless, that’s really getting off topic. While I believe all of that was necessary to mention, I’ll return to the main point of the article. Given those statistics by USA Today of all places, we can see that the Left’s efforts to indoctrinate our children aren’t working as much as they would hope. If they could have their way, they would have the number of children who believe in gun control to be at 100%. And while the majority has been successfully brainwashed to not believe in facts, there’s a very surprising amount of middle and high school-aged people that refuse to believe the Left’s lies, even going as far as to believe that a good guy with a gun would be a good and safe option for them.
So that’s something to celebrate, if nothing else. It gives you some realistic hope that, while the future will likely be plagued by open-communists, there will be a decent amount of people who will fight back against that communism.
And yes, I know that that poll only talks about gun control measures and armed security on campus, but they’re indicative of potential conservatism for the future. If they’re unwilling to believe the Left when it comes to this, surely they’d be unwilling to believe the Left in other matters, even if at the moment, they are a bit liberal-leaning in those other matters.
Heck, even I used to be a good deal more liberal when I was in high school compared to now.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Truth be told, Millennials tend to be more gullible when it comes to just about anything in the real world, nowadays. But when it comes to things like online scams, the expectation is that Millennials are a bit more capable of smelling the b.s. being thrown at them. Arguably, if they can’t smell the b.s. being thrown at them over how many genders there are, we honestly shouldn’t expect them (yes, I know I’m a Millennial too) to be too bright about this sort of stuff either.
But HotAir.com has an article about online scams and which demographic is reportedly more liable to fall for one. According to the article: “New data from the Federal Trade Commission reveals that younger people in their twenties were not only scammed more often but lost more money per bogus transaction than people of retirement age.”
The article quotes Seattle King 5 News, the original source for this information.
“Move over, grandma and grandpa. Your Millennial grandkids reported losing [more] money to financial scams last year than you did, new government data shows.”
“In all, 40% of Americans in their twenties who reported fraud in 2017 indicated they lost money to the schemes, the Federal Trade Commission said last week in its annual databook of consumer complaints.”
“The percentage surpassed the 18% of U.S. consumers 70 or older who reported they lost money to fraudsters last year, the FTC said.”
The article specifically compares Millennials to people in their 70s and up largely because it’s more expected for older generations to fall prey to online scams. It’s based mostly from the assumption that most elderly people don’t know how to use a computer and tend to be more trusting, given that they lived in a far different era from the younger generation. Arguably, an era when you could most likely trust the word of another person. Still, the 50’s (what I, as a Millennial, presume to be the era of white picket fences and being very friendly to your neighbor) was almost 70 years ago. While computers are still a relatively new thing, the culture in which it was created was far different from the 50’s.
The first few home computers didn’t come out until around the 70’s and didn’t become common until the 80’s. And the big cultural change that came about was in the 60’s with the hippy revolution (and what I’ll forever blame for today’s highly secular culture).
What I’m trying to say is that, while our grandparents are old, they’re not THAT old. They may not exactly be geniuses when it comes to technology, but they can still smell b.s. when it’s right in front of them. So that’s clearly one massive difference between their generation and my generation.
Returning to the HotAir article, it continued: “The biggest category of scams was bogus debt collection schemes. (I’ve never understood how anyone falls for that if you know when and where you spend your money.) The next biggest categories were identity theft leading to fraudulent credit card charges and tax fraud. Another big category was ‘imposter claims’ where someone pretends to be a friend, relative or even a government agency like the IRS and tries to trick you into transferring money to them pronto.”
The writer then mentions a time when he almost fell for an imposter claim. How he had received an email from one of his friends saying that she needed money because she had been robbed while out of town. He says that he figured out it was a scam, that his friend’s email address had been hacked and that she had to reset her password largely because he took the time to call her and ask if she needed more assistance and she had no idea what he was talking about.
He also mentions that, given the data, he guessed that “at least one-third of you younger folks would have fallen for it.” Truth be told, reading it for the first time, I might’ve thought it could be legit. I’m not saying I would’ve fallen for it and sent money (largely because I don’t communicate with friends via email and this would’ve at least raised some flags), but I did think it could sound real. And I do think that other people my age might’ve fallen for this. After all, the biggest reason he figured out it was fake is because he CALLED his friend to see if she needed more help.
My generation is not one for making phone calls anymore. At least not an awful lot. Granted, a text might’ve also confirmed the email was bogus, but my generation is also known for one other thing: emotion.
When someone needs help and it’s within our power to help them, we don’t think about it, we just do it. And while that may be a noble act in other cases, it’s also a stupid act in cases like these. A Millennial might’ve seen that email, see that a friend needed his or her (or “its” or “ze’s” or whatever b.s. non-binary term they want to use) help and do exactly as requested without a second thought.
Or even a first, really.
Because that is one of the bigger things my generation is known for: feeling before thinking. It’s the very reason for my initial statement in the first paragraph. Millennials tend to be more gullible precisely because in every thought and action, emotion takes precedent over common sense or logic.
It’s why a twitter account for Planned Parenthood in Kentucky can tweet: “Some men have a uterus,” repeated literally 11 times to emphasize how serious they are that they believe such a lunatic thought (and to emphasize just how stupid they are).
Such a statement would’ve only gotten you laughs a decade ago. Today, that statement is treated like gospel, particularly coming from Planned Parenthood. It’s treated as though it’s a truthful statement even though it defies any sense of logic and even SCIENCE!
The moron that tweeted that “felt” it was right to tweet it even though it’s inarguably stupid. Even though, when you think about it, it doesn’t even make sense towards a Leftist agenda. Feminists shout that their vaginas “empower” them. Does that statement mean that men are “empowered” too? See, even in their own screwed up world of logic it’s an illogical statement.
Alas, I don’t want to continue risking losing brain cells talking about this. But it still illustrates my point. My generation is all about emotion, not logic. And it’s that emotion, or at least partly because of that emotion, that the FTC reported the numbers they have.
It’s that emotion that drives them to believe everything the Left and the media says. They say that Trump is a sexual assaulter and immediately believe it despite the lack of evidence towards it. They say that he cheated and colluded with Russia to steal the election from Hillary and immediately believe it despite the lack of evidence. The MSM thrives off of my generation’s emotions. And since it’s my generation that will one day rule the nation, our opinions matter more than anyone else’s to the media.
They thrive off of the anger of the Leftist students from Parkland High School who demand gun control, ironically while ignoring the anger of the conservative students from Parkland High School who call out the angry Leftists.
Emotions are the only place the Left can actually beat conservatives because emotions don’t require a sound thought. The Left can’t beat us in the realm of ideas, so they try to use emotions to push forward their own agenda. And Millennials are the perfect demographic for the Left to abuse.
Any developments on trading our Millennials with the Chinese ones?
“A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
Taking a break from talking about the Parkland high school shooting, I want to focus on a rather intriguing and funny video depicting just how illogical and brainwashed some Leftists (more specifically, millennials) are.
Some time ago, Portland State University (a college I almost went to) held an event discussing the differences between men and women. The event was hosted by PSU philosophy professor Peter Boghossian and featured a biologist by the name of Heather E. Heying, writer Helen Pluckrose, and former Google engineer James DaMore, the very engineer that was fired by Google for writing a memo about the biological differences between men and women and women’s natural disinterest in engineering.
Now, the video below is nearly 2 hours long, but the most important things for this article occur between the 18 minute mark and the 22 minute mark.
Professor Boghossian begins by asking what “social constructivism” is. Helen Pluckrose answered, saying: “It’s the idea that all of our traits, our characteristics, abilities, cognitive, psychological, behavioral, are learned from societal norms; the idea that there can be innate or biological or inherited differences are dismissed. And so, we’re in a position where if there is injustice, or if there is an imbalance anywhere, sort of an inequality of representation, then the explanation for that can be the societal injustice.”
The professor then turned to Heying, asking: “What can we take from what Helen said to help us make sense of James’ memo?”
Helen responded with: “James argues, accurately, that there are differences between men and women. This is a strange position to be in, to be arguing for something that is so universally and widely accepted within biology. What is not as widely accepted is that culture’s also evolutionary; but I’m going to argue that both biology and culture are both evolutionary. Let’s look at differences between men and women that are explicitly anatomical and physiological; are men taller than women on average? Does anyone take offense at that fact? I would say you could be irritated by it; you could be irritated by the fact that women have to be the ones who gestate and lactate; you could be irritated by a lot of truths…”
It was at this point that snowflake millennials were triggered enough to up and leave the room.
Heying continued: “… but taking offense is a response that is a reflection of reality. So, men and women are different on height; they’re different on muscle mass; they’re different on where fat is deposited on our bodies. Our brains are also different.”
At this point, another enraged lunatic millennial knocked over something in the back of the auditorium, sabotaging the sound system. Due to that, security was called on them.
The video then cuts to the girl who destroyed the sound system being escorted to the lobby by security. She begins ranting, saying: “He’s a piece of s**t. That is not okay. Even the women in there have been brainwashed.”
Then another triggered snowflake said: “… should not listen to fascism. It should not be tolerated in civil society. Nazis are not welcome in civil society.”
Then, the triggered snowflakes left, with the vandal girl saying: “F**k the police! Power to the people!”
Which I simply had to laugh at.
I’ll get back to these idiots in a second. First, I want to mention what immediately followed inside the auditorium.
Professor Boghossian said: “All right, we’re going to raise our voices. The conversation’s going to go on.” Which prompted cheers and applause from the people in the audience who were mature and smart enough to stay and listen. He continued by calling out these hoodlums, saying: “Let me be crystal clear: that sort of behavior is unacceptable in civilized society (prompting more applause). And if that person is a student, they should be given a warning, and if they do it again they should be expelled from the university.”
I applaud the professor for calling out at least the vandal girl for the damage. It’s just as he said: that sort of behavior is simply unacceptable in civil society.
Which brings me back to the triggered snowflakes. I find it very amusing the things they said. The vandal called, presumably the professor, a “piece of s**t”. For what? Hosting an event that talks about reality. And, as we all know, these children are altogether allergic to reality.
She mentions that even the women in there have been brainwashed. Really? The biologist is brainwashed for speaking scientific facts? The writer in there is brainwashed for correctly defining the very Leftist mindset? And let’s not forget: this is Portland State University.
I used to live in Portland, Oregon. It’s uber-Leftist over there. Do you know what the city’s motto is? “Keep Portland weird.” As though normalcy is blasphemous and abnormality is to be celebrated. So I’m not at all surprised to see such idiots attending this college. What I am surprised at is the fact that the faculty (or at least the one professor) isn’t so Leftist (politics really didn’t play a role here, but these students made it political) and that he was realistic enough to know that there are biological and realistic differences between the genders.
What I’m surprised about is that they had speakers there talking about reality as it is, not as they see it politically.
Good on them for hosting this event to talk about reality.
But returning to the vandal girl, who’s the one who is brainwashed here? She refuses to accept reality and insults the people who try to explain it and goes so far as to deliberately destroy equipment used to talk about reality. She’s acting just like a good pawn for the Left.
Then, we have the guy that is literally calling them fascist and Nazis. He mentioned that fascists should not be tolerated in civil society. That Nazis shouldn’t be tolerated in civil society. Why is calling the very real differences between men and women a form of Nazi or fascist talk? It’s not. The only reason he says that is because he disagrees with what is being said. And anything that he disagrees with is automatically called fascism or Nazism.
These kids truly don’t understand what Nazism and fascism is. I’m a millennial myself but still have a better understanding of its horrors. I may not have experienced it (thank the Lord for that) but I know history. I know how horrible they are from understanding history. And I also know how Leftist these two things are.
Which is why I also have to laugh when the vandal girl says “power to the people.” What form of government gives power to the people? Communism does the literal opposite, as does fascism and Nazism. The three all derive from Marxism and all talk about a centralized state being in rule. So how is that giving power to the people?
For all the times that people like them call Trump a “fascist” and a “Nazi”, they are seemingly quite free to slander him and his name. Do you think they fear an occasion similar to the Night of the Long Knives, an operation by the Nazis to execute their opponents and consolidate Hitler’s absolute power in Germany? Do you think they fear Trump will have members of the police or military take people like Maxine Waters (despite how corrupt she is), Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, John McCain and others and execute them?
Do you think they fear he will do what Mussolini did when he took over the presses and had a prominent opponent of his (Giacomo Matteotti) murdered? Do you think they fear Trump will take over CNN and have Chris Cuomo killed? Of course not!
Despite the fact that they constantly call him a fascist, he’s the furthest person in Washington from fascism. From Nazism.
Let me tell you, those who support gun control are closer to fascism and Nazism than those who don’t. Those who support abortion are closer to fascism and Nazism than those who don’t. Those who support censoring people who disagree with them are closer to fascism and Nazism than those who don’t. Those who support increasing the size of the government are closer to fascism and Nazism than those who don’t.
These triggered snowflakes have absolutely no idea what it is they’re talking about. They speak as though they understand the world and everything in it when nothing could be further from the truth. They don’t just ignore reality, they flat out reject it. That much is evident by this video. They are utterly disconnected from reality and hate the very idea of it. They want to make their own reality and will likely die in the process (because you can’t live outside of reality), if cleaning detergent doesn’t kill them first.
I find myself wondering if we can make a deal with China to trade our millennials. I’ll take millennials who are disinterested in just about everything including communism over millennials that altogether reject reality.
“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.”
The content being talked about begins roughly at the 18 minute mark.
When you think about it, that title really is an oddity. For any Leftist to worry about the millennial generation voting Republican in the future is rather stunning. But why does Phillip Reines, former Hillary Clinton advisor, worry that millennials might vote more for Republicans in the future? Short answer: tax cuts.
At a panel with the Washington Center, Phillip said that he doesn’t “know how millennials think… It’s unclear what will get them going… Someone like Sanders and Warren seem to tap into that… But you can’t just assume that people last year (2016 election) would’ve gotten what Hillary Clinton got and add it on to it… But I think millennials have to, they more than anyone, have to say this is not normal and there’s a lot of pressure to shut up… Donald Trump and his people want everyone to shut up, get over the election, Hillary Clinton go away. That’s in their best interest. But that’s not how it works. We’re supposed to oppose what we disagree with. And I hope millennials don’t fall into a lull of accepting this is what it is. God knows how many will see their taxes go down and base it just on that… They are a key demographic that voted oddly in 2016… I’m not sure that people understand how to get them to vote productively in 2020.”
Ok, that’s an awful lot to talk about.
Let’s go step by step. First, of course he doesn’t know how millennials think. He himself is not a millennial. But he’s right in saying that someone like Sanders and Warren seem to tap into that. Sanders and Warren know (at least to a decent extent) how millennials think. The way millennials think, unfortunately, is very much socialistic. They want everything to be free, not want to work for anything and want things to just be given to them.
Millennials want to be taken care of by their parents for as long as they live. But since parents can’t do that, that’s where the state comes in. I remember Mark Zuckerberg giving a speech to a graduating class at Harvard. In that speech he talked about how everyone should have a fixed income no matter what, even if they don’t have a job. That the government should just give people money for living.
I don’t think I have to go into too much detail on why that’s a very stupid idea, but to millennials, that’s a great idea! They don’t consider the economic consequences of such an idea. They just want free money for doing nothing. No nation can afford to do that and survive. Moreover, no CIVILIZATION can afford to do that. If no one works, nothing gets done. If you’re going to get paid for doing nothing, you might as well do nothing.
Society was made by people who DID stuff. If no one worked anymore, no more iPhones would be made, no servers would be maintained, there’d be no running water, no electricity. Millennials, if you want to know a sure-fire way to actually kill the internet, it’s not through repealing Net Neutrality. It’s through no work being done by anyone.
But ideas like those sound good to millennials because they can’t really be bothered to think too hard about it. Without a doubt, if there’s any Deadly Sin that plagues the millennial generation, it’s sloth.
Second, he says that millennials have to understand that this (I’m presuming, world) is not normal. That “there’s a lot of pressure to shut up.” And that “Donald Trump and his people want everyone to shut up, get over the election, Hillary Clinton go away.”
I would like to respond by saying that no one is pressuring anyone to shut up, especially Trump. Doing so would call for a violation of people’s first amendment rights, which is why he doesn’t do that. Wanna know who pressures people to shut up? The Left. They pressure Christians to shut up about God. Pressure conservatives to shut up about how great our country is.
I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve seen or watched a story about a kid somewhere in the country being ordered by teachers to take off a shirt with the American flag on it because it’s “offensive”. And don’t get me started with college students and their “safe zones”. Every time someone mentions Donald Trump in a college campus, the kids will begin to freak out and run to the “safe zone” to be away from things that “could severely impact someone’s mental health.” No joke, I’ve seen that b.s. excuse thrown around to protect these children.
And yes, I call them children despite the fact that I, myself, am 21 years old and college-aged.
But Donald Trump most certainly does not pressure anyone to shut up.
Phillip mentions getting over the election. To which I say, yes, we have told people to do that. Why? Because there’s no point in still being upset about it anymore! Sure, just after the election, I can’t blame any liberal for being upset about the results. But after A WHOLE YEAR?! If people haven’t gotten over the election results yet, they have some serious problems to deal with. Even the Russia probe has lost almost all traction.
I was upset about the 2012 election results for a week at the most.
And about Hillary Clinton going away, Phillip couldn’t be more wrong. I, for one, LOVE IT whenever Hillary Clinton makes any sort of public appearance. Why? Because she’s essentially a ghost haunting the Democrat Party. She’s a candidate the Democrat Party wants to forget. Even they realize Hillary is far too much of a liability for them to still support unabashedly.
I don’t want Hillary Clinton to go away simply because she always manages to make the Democrat Party look bad. And if there’s anyone I can say has any right to still be upset about the election, it’s her.
Next, he talks about opposing what you disagree with. Ironically, I actually agree with him on this. I wanted the GOP to oppose Obama on everything he did, but they barely even tried. I don’t expect the Democrats to simply back down.
Then, he talks about hoping millennials don’t fall into a lull of accepting this is what it is. Now what does he mean by that? That he hopes millennials won’t just accept the results of the election? Quite possibly. But one thing comes to mind that could also be a strong possibility.
He doesn’t want millennials to think this Make America Great Again campaign is normal for the country. He doesn’t want them to think there’s any chance of making America great. With ISIS being almost entirely defeated, the Dow Jones at record-highs, a tax cut that benefits nearly everyone and massive drops in unemployment rates, these are things that are not normal to millennials.
Us millennials didn’t get to experience the Reagan years. Many of us were born in the 90s, when Bill was President. We grew up in the 90s and 2000s. Those were our childhood years. Children tend not to pay too much attention to the world. For many of us, Obama’s America was normal. And that’s saying a lot.
For us, difficulty getting jobs was normal. A declining economy was normal. America getting disrespected by both Americans and non-Americans was normal. We truly believed that America’s best days were behind her. And I think Phillip wants millennials to continue believing Obama’s America is normal, not Trump’s.
And he clearly shows that he’s afraid millennials will see a new standard of normalcy with Trump’s presidency. He’s worried that the tax cuts letting them keep more of their money will lead them to vote more Republican.
Personally, I don’t know about that. I’m not going to raise my hopes and believe they will start voting more Republican (or at least more conservative). Like I said, my generation is more socialistic. One piece of legislation like tax reform won’t do that much. Millennials tend to believe the Left, which is a scary thought. If the Left claims credit for millennials keeping more of their money, millennials might believe them.
If millennials don’t think too hard about the consequences of a fixed income for everyone, they likely won’t think too hard about who they should thank for them having more money.
I might be a bit too harsh about my generation, but they’ve barely given me any reason to have high hopes for them. Although, one thing is for certain: millennials are a wildcard.
During high school, I’ve met some millennials (not a lot) that are rather socialistic but, funny enough, support the 2nd Amendment and the troops. That revelation stunned me. I would’ve expected these millennial classmates of mine to be full-on socialistic, particularly on issues like guns and our troops.
Of course, these are rather individual cases. I’ve met just as many millennials who are opposed to guns entirely. But these classmates have made me think that this generation isn’t all that different from previous ones. Each individual has their own opinion and beliefs.
What I’m trying to say is that not all is lost with my generation. We’re an odd bunch, but there’s some hope for us yet. The very fact that I myself believe and know these things, that I’m a Christian conservative, gives me hope for the future.
The Left has done a lot of damage to my generation. It’s up to us, conservatives of all ages, to reverse that damage as much as we can.
“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that He has done.”
Reading through some conservative websites, I found this neat little story on Breitbart titled: “Chinese State Media: Millennial-oriented Communist Propaganda Failing For ‘Zen Generation’.”
This is a rather eye-catching story considering the fact that I certainly did not think China of all places would have a problem with their own millennial generation.
The article reads: “China’s government-run newspaper Global Times complained in a piece published Tuesday that millennials of the ‘Zen generation’ are ‘indifferent’ to communism, a sign that Xi Jinping’s efforts to impose Marxist ideology on young Chinese people are failing.”
I would just like to point out the irony of American millennials loving communism and Chinese millennials being at the very least indifferent to it.
Quoting the Global Times, Breitbart writes: “They are not inspired by any patriotic drive or the Party’s political catchphrases. They are simply indifferent.”
Then Breitbart writes: “Under Xi, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has invested heavily in youth-centered propaganda, including producing rap videos about communism, organizing ‘mass dating’ events where Communist Youth League members can meet state-approved potential mates, and doubling down on textbooks and academic study that promote Chinese military belligerence. Chinese officials have also cracked down on non-Mandarin language and religions considered rivals to ‘socialism with Chinese characteristics.’”
“Yet the Global Times admits in a report on the ‘Zen-generation’ that these efforts appear to be, in part, failing. ‘People who call themselves Zen-generation, either seriously or half-jokingly, are seemingly fine with anything that happens to them,’ the article notes, suggested that these individuals refuse to put effort into anything, including work and relationships.”
Is there any way we can do a Millennial-exchange program with the Chinese? Because I’d rather have the Chinese millennials over American millennials. And yes, I know that I myself am a millennial, but I would imagine that program being voluntary rather than mandatory. I know that plenty of American millennials would rather live in China at this point and I can imagine a good few of the Chinese millennials would be willing to see what America is like.
I think that program would be a win-win for everyone. America gets millennials that, regardless of their flaws, won’t flat-out demand full-on communism on social media (yes, I saw someone call for full-on communism as a Christmas present). American millennials will finally experience what communism is like and (hopefully) learn why it’s the worst system of government around. China gets millennials that are excited about communism and Chinese millennials get to experience real Democracy and freedom.
Putting jokes aside, we return to the Breitbart article. The article then reads: “The Chinese Communist Youth League has identified this as a threat and a ‘total tragedy.’”
“’Only when the young have ambitions and are responsible can a nation have prospects,’ the Youth League said in an article on the topic posted on social media and quoted by the Times. The newspaper notes that communists may indeed have something to be worried about, that ‘this new trend is a passive reaction against the rapid reforms, changes, and developments of modern-day Chinese society.’”
The article then mentions how there are more Christians in China than there are Communist Party members. Now, I tend not to simply take such information on the internet and immediately believe it. Thankfully, Breitbart doesn’t assume you’ll flat-out believe them either, so they set up a link to an Australian news website about the Chinese government cracking down on Christians and churches.
The article says that “Some say there are 100 million Christians in China – that’s more than Communist Party members. The Chinese government admits there are about 25 million Christians registered at state-run churches where pastors are appointed by the state and theology approved by the governments Religious Affairs Bureau. But the big worry for the Party is the unregistered worshippers in the underground churches. Accurate estimates are difficult to get, but experts say their numbers vary between 40 million and 70 million. And they say by 2030 China will have the world’s largest Christian population.”
This is fantastic news to hear about the growth of the Christian faith in a communist country. Yet another reason I kinda actually want such an exchange program. If the estimate really is 100 million, that means that Christians make up roughly 7% of China’s population. While not a lot, you also have to remember that China has the largest population in the world at over 1.3 BILLION people. And considering that this is a communist country, that number is something to be happy about.
But returning to the Chinese millennials, I’m happy to see a millennial generation that isn’t entirely in love with the ideology of communism. While not every single American millennial likes the idea of socialism (as evidenced by yours truly), the fact that roughly half of my generation likes socialism makes me worried about the future of this country.
But the good news is that that number can always change. People can be educated. Enlightened. If Christianity can not just survive but even GROW in a communist country, I have hope for this country’s Christian faith.
I even have some hope for China’s FUTURE! And that’s a sentence I never thought I’d ever write. If these Chinese millennials learn to despise communism (as everyone who considers themselves logical should), then that would be a massive blow to global communist efforts, essentially striking at the heart of today’s global communism.
Now, I might be speaking a bit prematurely here. Like I talked about American millennials getting educated being a possibility, so is Chinese millennials embracing the propaganda being drilled into their brains a possibility. And while I usually prefer to adopt a realistic outlook on many things, I can’t help but be at least somewhat optimistic over these news.
The potential to dismantle the Chinese communist regime is there, and it can be done by China’s own youth. I am certainly hopeful of that possibility, slim as it may be at the moment.
I just hope and pray that people all around the world will wake up to the truth. To the truth that communism sucks. To the truth that big government sucks. But more importantly, to the Truth that Christ is the one and only Son of God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. That no matter who is President of any country, Jesus is King.
And I see the potential for such an awakening in China. I just hope American millennials will follow Chinese millennials… Oh look at that, another sentence I never thought I’d say.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Is there anything anyone ever does that is inoffensive to someone nowadays? You literally can’t go outside without being called a racist, apparently. And one student from Pitzer College, Malcolm McCann, makes known his beliefs that outdoor clubs in schools are fundamentally racist.
According to Campus Reform: “In a recent op-ed for the school paper, a white Pitzer student frets that the colleges’ outdoor programs, though open to all students and well-funded, are ‘predominantly white spaces’ that deny people of color ‘access to the outdoors.’”
That statement reaches levels of stupidity close to the whole “a banana peel in a tree made people cry” incident a few months back.
McCann writes in his op-ed: “[The Pitzer Outdoor Adventure and ‘On the Loose’ outdoor clubs] claim to be accessible: while trips are open to any student wanting to go, not everyone feels the same ease in entering the outdoors. This discomfort is unfortunately caused by existing racial boundaries.”
I feel as though it’s necessary to remind you that McCann is white himself, so I have no idea how he would know how minorities feel when going outdoors. I’ve been offered to go hiking with some friends before. I turned down those offers not because I felt that my friends would automatically become racists the minute we got there but because I’m not really into hiking.
Likewise, I seriously doubt minorities’ concerns about joining an outdoor club center on how “white” the club is.
Regardless, McCann’s ridiculous sense of social justice is in full display for all to see. He continues his op-ed with: “Historically, white people in imperialist conquests have appropriated land as their own. North America rightfully belongs to indigenous communities, yet it has been taken away from them by force. Consequently, a false sense of ownership of nature permeates white America.”
I just love the way ignorant liberals often phrase things. He writes that the whole country rightfully belongs to indigenous communities, yet, I highly doubt he’d give up his house to some random Indian tribe. He believes the land belongs to the natives, yet he lives and thrives in land that is supposedly not his. Would that not make him a hypocrite?
What land would be his then? Some place in Europe that maybe his family owned before they moved to the colonies? Should he go there since the land his family now owns technically belongs to the natives?
But he’s not done. Not by a longshot. He continues with: “Similarly, the image of a modern outdoor enthusiast is white, as is the historical image of a naturalist. The great icons of nature – John Muir, Walt Whitman, Henry David Thoreau – are all white men. At present, most famous rock climbers are also disproportionately white.”
To which I must reply with: “so what?” What does it matter that those people he named are all white? I can make you a list of the 10 greatest basketball players of all time and I can easily say that only 1 of them is white. Does that mean the NBA is racist because of the disproportionate black to white ratio? OF COURSE NOT!
So why is it racist that there’s a disproportionate white to black ratio in outdoor activities? Often times, these things are about PERSONAL PREFERENCE!
Take me, for example. I’m from Latin America, where soccer (or futbol, as it’s called there) is the most popular sport there (and given the multiple countries with socialist governments, the best chance people have to escape poverty). I like it, but not nearly as passionately as fellow Latin Americans. My favorite sport (in case you couldn’t tell from the numerous references I’ve made over time) is basketball.
A sport that is most famous in 2 places: America and China. Off the top of my head, I can name 2 All-Star Latin American players (one of them retired and the other very close to retirement), so you can see that basketball isn’t nearly as popular for Latin Americans as soccer is. Yet, I love it with a passion.
I don’t care much for outdoor activities not because of the white people there, but because I’m just not into it. I’d rather be shooting some hoops than walking up a mountain carrying a 50 lbs. backpack or kicking a soccer ball.
And if I WERE into outdoor activities, I couldn’t care less about what skin color the other people around me are.
Still, I doubt one minority writer would convince an airhead such as McCann that most people aren’t so fixed about the color of people’s skin. Honestly, for someone to write an op-ed about how outdoor clubs are racist, they really have to be SEARCHING for a problem where none really lies.
And perhaps the funniest point he seriously makes (though that’s up for debate) is that aside from racial barriers, there are also financial barriers… which are also racial barriers, to this guy.
“Many National Parks are hundreds of miles from large cities. Consequently, only those with access to a vehicle and money for gas will be able to enjoy them. Similarly, only students with economic privilege have the resources to attend summer programs that teach wilderness skills.”
Does this guy not realize that he’s talking about COLLEGE CLUBS?! Chances are that the minorities attending such schools have the money to do so. Financial troubles are not something they have to worry about all that much. Granted, a student here and there might say “I can’t afford to go hiking”, which is fair enough. But that’s not a problem every single minority student runs into.
If I were attending college and had the chance to join an outdoor club, I wouldn’t join not because I don’t think I can afford to go to these National Parks but because I’m just not interested in those things.
And even if I WERE interested, my financial ability to go is not something I’d be worried about. Even if I couldn’t afford it, these kind of clubs are usually well-funded. According to Campus Reform: “At Pitzer College, the ‘Pitzer Outdoor Adventure’ club of which McCann is a member began this school year with over $7,500 of funding.”
So even the very club he’s A MEMBER OF is more than capable of funding any student who wishes to participate in the club’s activities. So McCann has exactly zero valid points to make.
Worst of all, not only does he come across as an absolute ignoramus, he’s also coming across as racist. I imagine the reason he wrote the op-ed is because he took one look at his fellow members’ skin tone and felt disgusted at the lack of diversity. He couldn’t get past their skin tone and thus concluded that outdoor clubs are racist and predominantly white.
While the white to black ratio may sway to the white side, that’s by no means a problem. It becomes a problem if the club’s main goal is to attract more minorities rather than focusing on the nature trips. It becomes a problem if the club becomes more focused on the skin color of its members. It becomes a problem if the leader of the school’s club denies entry to a white person wanting to join so that they can have open spots for minorities.
McCann’s op-ed solves no problems and only seeks to incite them. He looked for a problem in his club and decided to create one.
It’s similar to what some people think Congress has. They don’t think there are enough minorities in Congress. They don’t think they have enough women in Congress. Not enough Hispanics or Asians. My big concern isn’t about what a Congressman looks like. My big concern is about what a Congressman BELIEVES! How he works and what he wants done.
I’d happily vote for an African-American woman if she’s a Christian conservative. Same as I would a while man. Or a Hispanic man. Or Hispanic woman. Or Asian man. Or Asian woman.
The point is that I couldn’t care less about the way people look. But it’s clear that the Left does. I can assure you no conservative looks at Congress and thinks “it’s too white and masculine.”
On contraire, I challenge you to find much masculinity, especially from Republicans.
Jokes aside, these are things only the Left worries about. That’s how shallow they are. That’s how shallow they always have been. They’ve always looked at black people as slaves. Either literally or financially. It’s no different today.
They claim they’re not racist, yet they use people’s skin color as an argument. Remember how people called you racist if you didn’t vote for Obama? If the fact Obama was black was the only reason some people voted for him, that makes those people racist.
They portrayed Obama (among other things) as “the cool black guy”… both times. And both times, he ran against a supposedly “racist” candidate just because they were white (I won’t defend either Establishment scumbag, but I remember the way people felt throughout the elections, mostly through 2012).
Race is a major issue for which the Left seemingly "wants" to rectify but never really will. The concept of “white guilt” is entirely created by the Left and entirely ridiculous. It serves no purpose other than to further drive a wedge between people using race.
No white person has to feel guilty about things they had nothing to do with (but Democrats should feel guilty about supporting and fighting for slavery). Likewise, no black person should victimize themselves for things that never happened to them. Cotton shouldn’t be something that offends them. They never had to pick any for their “white masters”.
Still, the Left can’t help themselves. They simply MUST divide people in any way they can. And so, stupid op-ed pieces like these surface. There was no racial problem in Pitzer’s outdoor club, but this guy wants there to be.
“Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor; but evil comes to him who searches for it.”
Is there anything anyone ever says or does that WON’T offend someone else? Apparently, the answer is no. A story on CampusReform.org tells of the tragic tale of what happened when a college student discovered a banana peel hanging from a tree… no really, stop laughing. That actually happened.
According to the story: “A Greek Life retreat at the University of Mississippi was promptly cancelled this weekend after a banana peel was found hanging in a tree.” You know, reasons to cancel an event may vary. They could be cancelled because of bad weather, or because of an active shooter in the area, or because of the threat of terrorism. A banana peel found hanging on a tree, apparently, can now be placed under the same category as those things for causes to cancel an event.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! But wait, it gets better. According to the story: “’To be clear, many members of our community were hurt, frightened, and upset by what occurred at IMPACT,’ Interim Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Alexa Lee Arndt remarked in an email between Greek leaders, according to The Daily Mississippian. ‘Because of the underlying reality many students of color endure on a daily basis, the conversation manifested into a larger conversation about race relations today at the University of Mississippi.’”
You know, I’d like to be a fly on the wall at that event so I could hear just exactly how the conversation went from “Hey, we found a banana peel hanging from a tree” to “you know, this could seriously harm people of color… BLACK LIVES MATTER! BLACK LIVES MATTER!” I mean, c’mon! How? Exactly how do you go from talking about a banana peel hanging from a tree (which apparently is now a big topic of conversation in the University of Mississippi) to talking about race relations in our society?
I just hope we, as a nation, will be able to get over this nightmare which will henceforth be known as “The Banana Peel From Hell of 2017”. Give me a break. Are we Millennials so insanely sensitive that a banana peel hanging from a tree will give us nightmares for weeks? That a banana peel can make us feel “hurt, frightened and upset”?
But let me tell you how this “nightmare” of a situation began. According to the CampusReform.org story: “Apparently, student Ryan Swanson admitted to discarding the banana peel in a tree after he was unable to locate a garbage can, and it was later spotted by Alpha Kappa Alpha President Makala McNeil, who leads one of the campuses[‘s] historically black sororities.”
Oh, so it was that 'jerk' Ryan Swanson who caused this huh? I just hope he knows the extent of the 'damage' he caused to the people of his community. Discarding a banana peel in a tree? Who does that? Psychopaths and Trump supporters, that’s who...apparently...
And you know what’s interesting? The poor guy actually APOLOGIZED for that. “Although unintentional, there is no excuse for the pain that was caused to members of our community,” Swanson wrote in his apology. “I have much to learn and look forward to doing such and encourage all members of our community to do the same.”
He’s writing as though he was a bully and caused some serious damage to people around him. And, to those other students, they might legitimately see Swanson as a bully. A bully to them, a bully to the planet, a bully to that tree, a bully to that banana peel and a bully to all of society.
And according to Makala McNeil, the person who found the banana peel: “The overall tone was heavy. I mean, we were talking about race in Mississippi and in the Greek community so there’s a lot involved.” (Yeah, a lot of b.s.) McNeil then recalled that she and her friend were “all just sort of paranoid for a second” after spotting the banana.
There are a lot of sentences in this article I thought I’d never say. This girl felt “paranoid” after spotting the banana. This guy was sorry for discarding the banana peel on the tree. The event was canceled due to students finding a banana peel hanging from a tree… Just what in the world is wrong with our society? Or better yet, my generation?
And the worst part might be this: according to The Daily Mississippian, some students left the retreat in tears, with McNeil saying that they “didn’t feel welcome” and “didn’t feel safe”.
So a banana peel hanging from a tree caused an entire event to be cancelled, students to leave the event in tears and in need to find safe spaces, and made them feel that they weren’t welcome and didn’t feel safe.
Well of course they didn’t feel welcome and safe. This could only mean one thing: the rise of the planet of the apes! It’s no longer just a movie!
I can’t recall the amount of times I had to face palm while writing this article. I typically write articles with passion to defend Christ, defend Trump or attack the Left. And I think that this one was the most sarcasm-filled article to date. But can you blame me? STUDENTS FELT UNSAFE AND UNWELCOMED BY A BANANA PEEL!
I seriously hope that the generation that comes after mine sees the stupidity of this generation and works to make society less ignorant and maybe just a little bit more abundant in the “guts” department.
If my generation is getting scared by a banana peel hanging from a tree, I would honestly not have much hope for our country. I legitimately hope that the next Democrat president won’t be a Millennial. Because at that point, the POTUS will be a BOTUS, the Baby of the United States.
However, knowing that this article itself was WRITTEN by a Millennial, I do have SOME hope for my generation and the future of this country. If there are more Millennials out there that are simply Millennials because of the year they were born in and not because of their quite literal insane liberal views, then the future doesn’t look so bleak, after all.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”
Although, that one is mostly for me and those worried about this generation, not the subjects of this article.
While listening to the Rush Limbaugh show on Tuesday the 11th of April, Rush talked about a news article from PJ Media about Millennials. The article was titled “Millennial Men Prefer to Be Family Breadwinners, Have Stay-at-Home Wives”.
When I heard it, I immediately thought that that’s not something the Left, particularly feminists, would be happy to read. But it makes sense. Personally, I want to be the breadwinner for my family and for my wife to take care of the house and children. That’s not to say I wouldn’t help, but that’s the roles I want for my family.
And, according to this article, most millennial men want the same.
Rush also stated a survey run on the dating website “Plenty of Fish”. According to the survey results, “22% of women refused to date a man that earned less money than they do.” And that by comparison, “4% of men and 11% of single individuals overall claimed that they refuse to be the breadwinner in a relationship.” The wording might trip you up a bit, it certainly confused Rush for a moment, but this is certainly good news. This means that 96% of men in that survey said they wanted to be the breadwinner.
When I heard all of this, it made complete sense. But more than that, it made me think about the trend in the world. The Left is trying to fundamentally change the U.S. They want civilization and people to be so incredibly confused and frustrated that they need government intervention to help sort things out, and that means Democrats getting elected. But what these things tell me is that the Left is not succeeding anywhere near as much as they would want us to believe.
They have the mainstream media and Hollywood to shout the things they believe and shove them down people’s throats, but that’s just it: they’re loud, not plentiful. Most people don’t want what they’re selling.
That article told me that millennial men want to embrace the role that God Himself ordered on man. And that they want a woman who will embrace the role God Himself ordered on woman. Telling this to a liberal feminist will undoubtedly infuriate them to the core. And that just makes me smile. This tells me that the Left isn’t succeeding as much as they want me to believe or even as they may believe themselves.
Furthermore, the evidence that they aren’t as successful as they claim to be is in the 2016 electoral map by county. When you look at that, you see a massive sea of red, even in California, Oregon and Washington. That’s something I’ve told you about in previous articles, but it is reinforced by the aforementioned article and survey.
MOST PEOPLE WANT A NORMAL LIFE.
MOST MEN WANT TO BE MEN.
MOST WOMEN WANT TO BE WOMEN.
Most people want to embrace the role God gave them. And that makes God smile. God didn’t create man so that he can lazy around doing whatever he wanted whenever he wanted with and to whomever he wanted. He didn’t create woman to do the same things man did. He created man to protect and care for woman and He created woman to accompany man by his side.
Leftists might say that that’s damaging to women, calling people that want that ‘sexist’. But here’s the thing: God created Eve from Adam’s rib. He didn’t take a part of Adam’s foot so that he may be above her, or from his head so that she may be above him. He took part of Adam’s rib so that woman may be equal to man, formed of his side to be by his side.
Men are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and women are to love and submit to their husbands as the church loves and submits to Christ.
When the husband is a man of God, righteousness fills his heart and refuses the desire to do evil, such as harm his wife. That’s just common sense. As Christ is the head of the church, so is husband the head of the family, which is why Ephesians 5:22-24 says to women that they should submit. “Wives, submit to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit everything to their husbands.”
This verse talks about a husband who is a man of God. God obviously doesn’t want women to submit to an abusive, sinful, evil man. But if a man is right with God and follows Christ, his heart won’t allow him to sin and feel good about it. He has the right heart and so the wife should follow him who follows Christ.
“Wives, submit to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit everything to their husbands.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, so that He might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of His body. ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’”
