Bowing To Dictators: Call Of Duty Producers Edit Game Trailer Because Of Tiananmen Square Footage8/26/2020 I have previously made mention that I like basketball and there are times when that world meets the world of politics, whether it’s a stupid comment uttered by a player or the overall business dealings that the NBA at large has with the CCP (which has a little something to do with this article). But I don’t think I’ve ever talked about the two worlds of gaming and politics coming together, so this will be a fairly new experience for me. At any rate, allow me to give you the important context of this article. According to Gaming news website Kotaku (which is Leftist, so it’s largely garbage, but useful here), the people at Activision, which is the publisher of the annual video game giant “Call of Duty”, decided to edit the trailer for their newest installment in the franchise: “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” because the trailer featured footage from the Tiananmen Square massacre. But they didn’t just edit it for Chinese audiences. They edited the trailer for ALL audiences and only IGN and Gamespot still carry the original trailer (video below). So not only are they censoring a massacre perpetrated by the CCP to Chinese audiences, they are also doing it for all audiences so that they might not know about it unless they specifically set out to research it. Perhaps I shouldn’t be so surprised at this, considering that Activision is partly owned by Tencent, a Chinese gaming corporation. I suppose Tencent doesn’t want anyone to know about the massacre perpetrated by the CCP, which makes sense considering they are a Chinese company. However, it is still extremely shameful for Activision to go down this path of Chinese appeasement, especially considering the theme of the trailer. For a little background context, the Call of Duty series has always been about simulating war. The first few iterations of the franchise focused on World War II and numerous sequels have either gone to a more modern setting, returned to World War II, delved into the Vietnam War and some have even gone to futuristic wars like World War III and other things. The Black Ops series in particular started out with a Vietnam War setting and seemingly, the producers are returning to that setting. One important aspect of the setting was, of course, the conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union in their arms and space races, with plenty of stories of foreign interference such as Soviet spies infiltrating United States intelligentsia and other places, as well as the attempts to radicalize Americans towards accepting and embracing communism (which has been rather successful as of late). And seemingly, the newest iteration in the franchise will explore this aspect a bit more. The trailer itself focused on an interview by a KGB defector named Yuri Bezmenov, who detailed in four stages how a free society collapses. The first stage is demoralization, specifically in indoctrinating students into believing foreign values and beliefs that stand apart from American tradition, which would be taught by radical students from the 1960s and 70s once they controlled educational institutions. This is currently happening. The second step is destabilization of the structure of society – the economy, the military and international relations. This is currently happening as well, with the Left insistent on bringing down the American economy and destroy its superpower status so that a global government can be established and dominate completely. They are also destroying the military not simply by cutting its funding but also by having soldiers indoctrinated, forced to read pseudo-scientific garbage like “White Fragility”, and overall making it so that the U.S. military has no real desire to protect the U.S. As far as the international relations go, I chuck that up mostly to other countries which are more secular and socialistic and do not like people like Donald Trump, instead preferring people like Obama and Biden. The third stage is crisis, an event which builds upon the first two stages to bring about a revolution. This is also happening with the Chinese coronavirus panic and the Left attempting to drive us towards a constitutional crisis following the 2020 election in their mail-in voting scheme, as well as the race riots going on bringing about a racial crisis to this country. The fourth stage is normalization, as in establishing a “new normal”. Sound familiar? At any rate, the actions by Activision are extremely ironic given all of this. One theme they outright display in the game’s trailer is “know your history or be doomed to repeat it.” And yet, they are destroying history by censoring the Tiananmen Square massacre in order to appease their Chinese owners. You couldn’t write better satire than that, but unfortunately and sadly, this is reality. I don’t know how many recognize the irony in the trailer showing “know your history or be doomed to repeat it” and editing the trailer so it gets rid of an important part in world history which perfectly encapsulates the evil that is the CCP and communism as a whole in order to appease the people who perpetrated that crime against humanity. The Chinese government killed hundreds, if not thousands of student protesters. This is a fact not known by most of the people in China, at least those not involved in the government, and at the behest of a Chinese company which partially owns them (5%), Activision is trying to ensure that this fact is also not known to other people outside of China. Now, one might think “but it is very well known outside of China. How does one game trailer editing that part out make it so that people outside of China not know about it?” To this, I say: “wait a couple of decades.” Communism used to be abhorred by the overwhelming majority of the country just 40 years ago. The memories of the Cold War are fading from this country and many are forgetting just what communism is and how horrible it is. Just 30 years ago, West German band “The Scorpions” released the worldwide hit “Winds of Change” which celebrated the toppling of the Berlin Wall and freedom from communism, optimistic towards a future “where the children of tomorrow dream away in the wind of change.” The tragedy is that the following verses say: “Distant memories are buried in the past forever.” THIS is the problem, because the children of tomorrow dream dreams of communist revolutions, and the memories are being buried too deep into the past, that they do not know how horrible communism is. In time, the memory of the Tiananmen Square massacre will fade in the minds of the countries which know about it if not regularly taught. That Activision would edit out footage from its trailer in appeasement of the Chinese is an indication of this looming threat. Of course, the massacre is but one aspect of communism which many will forget in the future. Matter of fact, even as many know about it today, how many even connect it with the horrors and injustices of communism? In America, we know very well about Tiananmen Square, and yet, plenty seem to want communism anyway. That warning in the trailer that if we fail to learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it, may be cliched, but it’s definitely true. For crying out loud, New York University is now trying to implement RACIAL SEGREGATION in student dorms and this is being celebrated as an achievement by Leftists (not that that should be much of a surprise, considering they were fighting for segregation in the 60s, but still). The memories of the Civil Rights movement, and the teachings that came about it, are being hijacked by the Left so that they might be forgotten forever, to the point where they rewrite history and say that MLK would support the anti-white, racist domestic terrorists in BLM. Again, it’s disgustingly ironic that Activision would focus this year’s installment of Call of Duty on “remembering your history” while also attempting to rewrite it and lead people to forget it because actually remembering your history and reminding people of it would hurt their bottom line. Shame on Activision for doing this and shame on all U.S. companies which work for or with the 21st century version of Nazi Germany. Remember your history. Ephesians 5:11 “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
