An article on TheHill.com caught my interest recently. You can see why with the title alone: “Liberal unrest threatens Dem immigration strategy.”
You don’t typically see Democrats opposing Democrats, or at least being divided on an issue. Even when they run for their Party’s nomination, they tend to agree on nearly everything, with the only disagreement being on how intensely they should pursue something. So to see an article that says there are people on the Left that don’t agree with Democrats is quite strange and interesting.
You might remember that, recently, Nancy Pelosi was heckled by “immigrants’ rights activists” who want Democrats to pass a “clean” Dream Act while also protecting the other 10 million illegals living in the country.
They heckled her and called her a liar when she said she was on their side (which she is) and believed she was betraying them by cutting a deal with Trump, chanting “all of us or none of us!” Gee, you’re really making this a tough decision, huh?
Those hecklers truly didn’t know that Nancy Pelosi is on their side and wants what they want. Trust me, she wishes Democrats didn’t have to try to negotiate with Trump. But here's the interesting part...
According to The Hill: “Some activists have been brought into the Democratic Party umbrella and agree with the need for negotiation… Others fear a deal between Trump and top Democrats would spare Dreamers while ‘kicking ICE into overdrive’ in persecution of other undocumented immigrants. Among that second group are activists who would rather accept new border-wall construction – a non-starter for the Democrats – than funding that could be used to hire more (ICE) agents.”
So it’s clear that there are two groups of immigrant activists: those who want Democrats to make a deal with Trump that would protect Dreamers and those who would rather ACCEPT BUILDING THE WALL than risk ICE hunting them down and deporting them.
“’A wall isn’t ICE, a wall doesn’t walk into your home and drag you out by your *expletive* hair’”, according the The Hill.
Man, I never thought I’d see immigrants be willing to give Trump the wall if it means that THEY get to stay here and not worry much about ICE. But here’s the strange part: while a Wall definitely takes a lot of money to fund, it likely won’t take away funding for ICE. Yes, ICE wouldn’t be heavily funded if a Wall is built, but it’s still a threat to illegals.
But I guess they have to deal with the cards they’ve been dealt. It’s either allow Trump to build a Wall and not have ICE super funded and super powerful to deport a whole lot of them or make a deal that just protects DACA recipients, doesn’t protect the rest and ICE gets funding that otherwise would’ve gone to the Wall.
I would feel sorry for them if they weren’t criminals. I would feel sorry for them if they weren’t looking to pay for their crimes one way or another.
But these kinds of things typically go ignored or unnoticed by the MSM. As did the overwhelming majority of support for Trump over Hillary, the media chooses to ignore the fact that there’s internal struggles within their own party and even their BASE!
However, that really shouldn’t come as such a big surprise. We all saw just how truly divided the Democrat base was in the primaries. Bernie Sanders was clearly better liked than Clinton, but the DNC never gave him or anyone else the chance to be the Democrat candidate for the 2016 election. And it’s clear that there were plenty of (registered) Democrats who wound up not voting at all because Hillary was so unlikable or simply because they were pissed that the DNC screwed Bernie over.
So there has been evidence of Democrats being divided, but they are not typically divided on ISSUES. While you see every single day that Republicans are worthless and are heavily divided on issues such as Obamacare and tax reform, Democrats tend to stick together. But, then again, all Democrats are Establishment (and the Establishment is communist), so they all know what way to vote.
But it’s entirely different to see people outside the Establishment divided on an issue, as opposed to a candidate. Sure, they will prefer one candidate over another, but they typically all agree on issues. They are typically either communists or dangerously misinformed. But here, you can see at least two sides within Democrats.
One side would rather try to strong-arm Trump (a tactic that simply won’t work) into protecting Dreamers and giving up on the Wall, and the other side would rather allow Trump to build the Wall, knowing that ICE won’t then be heavily funded to “mass deport” millions of illegals.
And it’s truly interesting to see this. Mostly because we’ve mostly been talking about Trump and HIS base and supporters and how THEY feel about a deal with the Democrats. But we have not payed attention to the Democrat base, largely because we thought they were all on the same page. I certainly didn’t expect Pelosi to get heckled by people that she agrees with and is on the same side with.
Heck, I even remember the time when Bernie Sanders was heckled at a campaign stop by Black Lives Matter people, even though he is on their side as well. So it’s clear that there is at least SOME division within the Democrat base.
And do you want to know what else is interesting? We (conservatives and Trump supporters) aren’t divided. The media will tell you that Trump’s base is leaving him and that we are divided amongst ourselves, but none of that is true. What they think is Trump’s base is the REPUBLICAN base. And, to an extent, they are right! Trump’s base is, largely, the Republican base… it’s just that Republicans no longer HAVE a base.
I wouldn’t call myself a Republican any more. I would call myself a Trumper. I don’t support the Republican Party, because they don’t support me. Trump, on the other hand, does support me and other Americans, and so, I support him. The Republicans no longer have a base. That base is now Trump’s base. But why do I say “to an extent”? Because I know and have seen plenty of former Democrats be in support of Trump.
Democrats who have formerly voted for Obama at least once and have decided to instead support Trump. Trump’s base is the Republican base + disillusioned Obama voters. Trump’s base is an AMERICAN base. Pro-America. While the Democrat base is largely anti-America and the Republican base is virtually non-existent.
And to see the Democrat base be divided at least to this current level is great. That’s merely one of the many reasons Trump won the election. And thankfully, we continue to see at least SOME level of division within the Democrat base.
We don’t tend to see evil and ignorance be divided, but when it happens, it’s great to see.

As you know, last week President Trump rolled back Obama's 2012 Executive Order that granted special treatment to illegal immigrants who came to America as children. Those 'children' are now in their 20s and 30s, therefore old enough to know right from wrong.
I myself am an immigrant. I too had dreams - dreams of my home country, Argentina, to one day do something different, better and highly unusual for any country in Latin America: RESPECT THE LAW. Argentina has had all sorts of issues - political and economic - for the simple fact that they refuse to respect the law they themselves enact. In some ways they operate like the Deep State in the US - there's a set of rules for the common people, and then there's another set of rules for people like Hillary Clinton.
But when I was young, I didn't see America's Deep State. Argentina has a deep state of its own, and it's what's ruined the country. When I was young, I dreamed about coming to America, because of its RULE OF LAW. I was tired of the special privileges that the ruling class had in Argentina and I wanted a fair shot at life and prosperity. You can't have that when taxation eats up most of your income and rules change overnight, putting you always at risk of being out-of-compliance in some aspect of what you do. It's by design, in case you're wondering. The deep state everywhere in the world wants to keep you on your toes and have the ability to arrest you or fine you as they wish.
Now, since my desire was to take a break from the disaster that is Latin America, I wanted to come to a place where rules didn't change overnight, and I could have some certainty that any legal action I would take or could be taken against me would be dealt with by the magistrates according to the law.
Sure, this was all long before that baker in Colorado was condemned for denying a wedding cake to a gay couple...
But in any case, at the time in the early 2000s, long before you could be condemned for not wanting to violate your faith, America was a decent country. America was a country where you could do whatever you wanted, as long as it was legal. In Argentina you could also do whatever you wanted, as long as you didn't get caught.
Never in a million years did I consider coming to America ILLEGALLY. NEVER!
And I had a child when I came here, who was 13 at the time. We waited, we planned and we did everything in a legal manner, because what I wanted more than anything was RULE OF LAW. And I wasn't going to expose my OWN CHILD to breaking the law. No way!
These 'dreamers' are not kids. And I would like to ask them what their dreams are, because clearly the rule of law isn't one of them.
There are many reasons why people come to America - GREED is one of them. When you're willing to break the law - or keep breaking it if your parents were the ones putting you in this position - then, where does it end? Where do you draw the line? Are you willing to STEAL? To KILL? You're already breaking the law, so what truly brings you here? The answer is...money, of course.
Prosperity is a top priority in these "dreamers'" minds. Not that there's anything wrong with prosperity. But when you're willing to break the law for money, then you're greedy. And there's no telling how far you're willing to go for money.
Dreamers have a CHOICE. They could continue breaking the law or they could just do the right thing: go back home and start a new, legal, process to come to America.
Dreamers remind me of Michael Corleone in 'The Godfather'. Michael (played by Al Pacino) was a member of a family of mobsters, with the Godfather, Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) at the helm. With no fault of his own Michael was BORN into a family of criminals. And he kept telling his girlfriend Kay (Diane Keaton) that he wanted nothing to do with the family business. This went on until Vito was the target of a murder attempt.
What happened next?
Michael had a CHOICE.
What did he choose?
To finally join the family and continue ... breaking the law.
Obviously the movie, which was produced in leftist Hollywood, tries to justify Michael's decision as the 'natural thing to do' when your father's life is at stake. It tries to tell you that you would do the same thing as Michael did - assassinate the Chief of Police who had attempted to kill his father. The movie really doesn't leave the viewer an option - but the truth is we ALL have options. If you want to learn right from wrong, you don't watch The Godfather - you read the Bible.
The Godfather is an interesting movie that not only shows the choices human beings face - it also shows the DEEP STATE at work. After all, the Godfather owned Senators, Chiefs of Police, journalists, etc. etc. The godfathers of the world used to be called mobsters. We now call them LOBBYISTS. But this is a topic for another article.
Dreamers face the same types of decisions. They have a CHOICE. Either they join their families in continuing breaking the law, or they do the right thing.
They've CHOSEN to break the law.
As an immigrant myself, now a proud US Citizen, I find it disgusting that the Left would play down the importance of respecting the law.
But then again, the Left hardly ever respects the law. Look at ANTIFA, or Hillary, or Bill Clinton. The Left and the Constitution can never be reconciled.
Dreamers should do the right thing. Like Jim Carrey's character, lawyer Fletcher Reed, yells at one of his clients over the phone in the movie 'Liar Liar', after his client got arrested again: STOP BREAKING THE LAW!

You may have heard that border crossings have dropped by 40% since Trump took office. You may also know that Univision’s Jorge Ramos said the ‘Trump effect’ is causing ‘fear stronger than any wall’. For someone like me, who came into this country legally and have never broken the law (anywhere in the world, I must add) this is good news.
Not long ago I met with a Venezuelan CEO of a weight management company which fundamentally serves the Hispanic community in the US. He told me that the community is vastly scared of Trump. I didn’t say anything, but I thought ‘I’m Hispanic and I’m not afraid of Trump. Why would they be?’ Then, of course, the obvious response: I’m a US Citizen now and I have never been in this country illegally.
Who is this CEO doing business with?
Possibly the same people that Jorge Ramos serves: illegal immigrants.
I have to admit that what brought me to this country initially was better opportunities. But never in a million years would I have entered this country illegally just to earn more money than in Latin America.
The one point my fellow Hispanics need to understand is that money cannot be the driver of our decisions. There’s still right and wrong in this world and breaking the law just to make a little bit more money makes you no better than a CEO who breaks the law to make a lot more money. Think of Enron or Bernie Madoff. The only difference between Madoff and the illegal Hispanic community is the AMOUNT of money they’re after – but the motivation to break the law is the same.
What is the first commandment in the Bible?
Exodus 20:3 reads ‘you shall have no other gods before me’
That means we cannot worship anybody or anything above God. When you worship something, like money, or someone above God, that’s when you get into trouble.
Think about it this way: when you prioritize smoking, or drugs, or money or sex in your life, you’re more likely to get hurt. God’s commandments are not meant to hold us back, but rather to protect us from harm. Like when parents teach their children not to run around a swimming-pool. It’s the same principle – God is protecting us.
One of the most attractive qualities of America is its rule of law. There’s no other country in the world like America in this respect. If your intentions are to break the law in any way, you have to expect some level of punishment.
My fellow Hispanics: what you’re teaching your children is that anything goes. You’re teaching them that the end justifies the means. Don’t be surprised if your children take breaking the law up a notch and begin stealing or… worse. You’re a role model to them. The end never justifies the means.
I lived in different countries before coming to the US. In all of them I always tried to assimilate. I bought a Brazilian flag when I lived in Brazil, and the Mexican flag when I lived in Mexico. I tried to learn and communicate in Portuguese, I tried to learn Mexican words and use some of their mannerisms.
The problem with the Hispanic community is that most of them don’t care to assimilate – they don’t learn English and naturally they themselves put limits to their potential by virtue of refusing to learn the language.
Since their priority is money, they don’t really care to learn the language, or to learn US history or even politics to at least try to understand who really is undermining their future – it’s the left, of course. Here in America as well as in their home countries, the left is on a mission to keep people poor.
Hispanics, for the most part, would call themselves Christians. They should follow what Scriptures say about their obligations when they’re immigrants: they should respect the law.
You must obey all my decrees and regulations. You must not commit any of these detestable sins. This applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you
It looks like the Mexican President may feel offended by Trump’s executive order to build the southern wall. President Pena Nieto decided to cancel his meeting with US President Donald Trump and suggested Mexico is facing the ‘biggest threat from its Northern neighbor since WWI’.
I lived in Mexico for 5 years – I love its people, its beaches and its history. But let me tell you what I learnt in those 5 years – the Mexican government thinks Mexicans have a RIGHT to come to America, documented or not.
You see, they do have a wall in their southern border with Guatemala. The Trump wall in an of itself isn't the issue. The key issue here is they’re still mad about losing California, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado – they feel these territories were unfairly taken from them and therefore they’re claiming them back by virtue of invasion. The Mexican government actually PROMOTES the invasion. Mexican politicians are unable or unwilling to build a country that enables its own people to prosper and live freely, so their only solution is to get their people to cross the border and look for better opportunities here. Combine the lack of opportunity at home and the feeling of loss of Mexican territory to the US and you get a perfect recipe for mass invasion.
When Mexicans come in, their mindset is not that of most of us, immigrants – they don’t come in to assimilate.
Since their goal is to correct a historic mistake and retake lost territory, they have no interest in learning English, following the law, singing The Star-Spangled Banner or waving our flag. Since this migration is in fact an invasion, sooner or later, they hope, Spanish will be widely spoken and the Mexican flag will fly again…in essence, they’re trying to bring Mexico back into these lost territories.
I’m an immigrant myself – from Argentina. Never in a million years did I consider NOT assimilating to the US. I’ve learnt the language, I’ve become a US citizen and I was incredibly emotional during the naturalization ceremony - something that was surprising to me because I thought I was so cool about it.
Assimilation is key to prosperity and THE WAY to pay RESPECTS to the country that’s taking us in. I’m GRATEFUL to this country and to GOD for placing me here - and I’m PROUD to be an American. Unfortunately, that’s not the way most Mexicans feel when they cross the border illegally.
As most of my readers know, I’m a Christian and I try to find Biblical solutions to our problems. The Bible does actually speak about immigration. It says that, while it’s true that we need to love and receive foreigners, there’s an obligation on the part of the immigrant: to follow the law.
Leviticus 18:26 says: ‘You must obey all my decrees and regulations. You must not commit any of these detestable sins. This applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you’.
The Mexican government bakes into its budget the fact that millions of their own people migrate to the US. They have no intention to build an inclusive economy where they themselves solve Mexico’s problems. The expectation is, given the US snatched the northern part of what used to be Mexico from their hands, that Mexico’s old enemy will take care of their 'unwanted Mexicans'. They don’t want these people in Mexico. They want us to take them in. That, my friend, is the sad truth.
The challenge for Mexico at this point is to come to the realization that the US will no longer be taking illegal Mexicans. And they need to understand that it’s time to grow up and start creating an economy that’s inclusive of ALL Mexicans. This has never been a priority to the Mexican government. They must accept the fact that these Mexicans are not our problem – they're theirs. We have problems of our own.
Now, having said that, whether the Mexican government accepts this fact or not should be completely irrelevant to us. Hopefully, they’ll get it and will course correct – and, who knows? Maybe they’ll be able to actually prosper – all by themselves. That’d be wonderful. But to OUR government the priority is the safety of our own people.
The wall is not meant to keep Mexicans out – it’s meant to keep TERRORISTS and CRIMINALS out. And to make it more difficult for anyone crossing the border illegally. It’s a common sense approach to a complicated problem. We all lock the doors of our homes to keep the bad guys out. This is no different.

America is a nation of immigrants. Historically, we have received people from all corners of the world – some fleeing war, some fleeing oppression, some fleeing extreme poverty – all of them seeking freedom and opportunity.
With the Trump Administration soon to be sworn in, immigration has become a hot button issue. People are reacting emotionally about Trump’s policies and are not really thinking what we really ought to do as a nation. Focusing on what might or might not happen, having a ‘the sky is falling’ attitude doesn’t help anyone, particularly those who claim to be concerned.
So let’s start tackling the issue.
People don’t know what to think about immigration – should we be compassionate towards immigrants? Should we help them out? Legal and illegal? Should we receive them? Should we restrict immigration?
With terrorism surging all these questions are valid questions...
...we want to be compassionate, but we want to be safe as well.
So what’s the right thing to do?
Before I give you an answer, let me tell you my friend, that the issue of immigration is not a partisan issue. Politicians who don’t understand right from wrong will not solve the problem and they won’t give you an answer.
The answer to the immigration issue is really in the most important book you will ever read. You know this book – it’s existed for thousands and thousands of years. Right now you can’t find it in our public schools, but you can download it online. Chances are, however, you have a copy at home already.
Personally I have many copies – one in each of my smart phones, in my eBook reader and three printed versions.
The book I’m talking about is The Bible. Yes, the Bible talks about immigration.
What does the Bible say about immigration? Like I said earlier, we want to help but we want to be safe. Can we do both?
Yes, we can. So let's see what we're supposed to do.
According to the Bible, God’s people are to:
But there's a catch, so keep reading.
Let’s discuss in more detail how the Bible says we should do these three things.
God commands acceptance of foreigners – but not any foreigners. He commands us to accept only those foreigners who are willing to accept His laws. In Leviticus God gives Israelites a number of rules they must follow.
Leviticus 18:26 says: ‘You must obey all my decrees and regulations. You must not commit any of these detestable sins. This applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you’.
The Bible has many examples of foreign-born men and women who were accepted as productive citizens of Israel. Accepting immigrants who are willing to accept God’s laws is a mandate in the Bible.
In the New Testament, there's another example of acceptance of foreigners. Jesus defied the long-standing custom of not speaking to Samaritans when in the Gospel according to John He engaged in conversation with a Samaritan woman. This conversation ultimately led to many of her Samaritan friends to come to Jesus Christ (John 4:1-26).
As you can see, the key is to only accept immigrants who are subject to the same laws as natives. Anyone coming to our country with the purpose of breaking the law should not be allowed in.
Hospitality to immigrants was crucial in ancient times, because travel was extremely treacherous.
Exodus 23:9 says: ‘You must not oppress foreigners. You know what it’s like to be a foreigner, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt’.
Helping immigrants is another mandate in the Bible.
This is the key one. We can accept immigrants who are willing to follow our laws. We can even help them out, but without the third one, immigration is never going to work.
This third mandate is CRITICAL to a prosperous, functioning society. It’s CRITICAL to the survival of such society. In the Bible, immigrants didn’t have carte blanche to do as they pleased. God gave us explicit limits to our acceptance of strangers.
Foreigners in Israel were expected to contribute to the success of the nation. There are many examples in the Bible of many immigrants contributing to their adopted land.
The message coming from the Bible is crystal clear: yes, we must accept and help immigrants, but only to the extent that they assimilate to the national culture and contribute to society.
Try explaining any of this to Democrats in power…Since they’re leftists, the idea of a prosperous America or even the survival of a Christian America is repelling to them – they want immigrants who are going to destroy our culture. Leftists care very little about our individual well-being. They have one purpose (which they share with Islamic Terrorists, by the way): the destruction of America as we know it, like they've destroyed other cultures such as in Cuba, in China, in North Korea, in Latin America (where I'm originally from) and now, in Europe. Illegal immigrants, and Islamic refugees are part of the plan. Thank God the electorate rejected it in the last election.
As you can see, my friend, as the Christian nation that we are, we’re expected to follow these Biblical rules above. Let’s bring in the people who truly love this country – and are willing to sacrifice for it. Those who are coming to break the law, or to kill us in the name of some fictitious god, shouldn’t be given the opportunity to do so on our own soil.
Let’s be compassionate and stay safe at the same time. It CAN be done!
